To J. cardinal archbishop of York. Request and order upon his allegiance with all convenient speed to summon a convocation of the province of York in the cathedral church of St. Peter York or elsewhere. By p.s. [6264], and the date (as above).

John prior of St. Oswald Nostell co. York and the convent to Master John Stokes clerk. Indenture of gift for life of a yearly rent of 40l. payable upon receipt of his acquittance in the cathedral church of St. Paul London at Christmas and Midsummer by even portions, the first payment to be on Christmas day next, and grant that so often as the same shall be two months in arrear they shall pay him 10l. in name of a pain with the arrears. Covenant and bond for payment of 20l. if they or their successors shall allege in their discharge any writing or acquittance save an acquittance or release of the said John dated at the said church, and any such other writing shall be void. Dated the chapter house, 10 February 20 Henry VI.

Thomas Kerdeston knight to William earl of Suffolk and Alice his wife. Recognisance for 500l., to be levied etc. in Norffolk.
Condition, that if hereafter he shall be married, he and his wife shall within half a year after such marriage, if she be of full age, and if not within half a year after she shall come of age, by fine levied in the king's court acknowledge the manors of Bullcamp and Henham and a messuage and 40 acres of land in Brampton co. Suffolk to be the right of the said Alice, and make a quitclaim with warranty thereof to the earl and Alice and to the heirs of the said Alice.
Dame Elizabeth Ragoun, late the wife of Reynold Ragoun esquire, to Thomas Wydevyle esquire, Simon Rotour, Richard Belton parson of Bolnehurst and Thomas Smyth chaplain, their heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of the manor of 'Esthaddoun' called 'Ragouns maner,' sixteen messuages, six carucates of land, 40 acres of meadow, 35 acres of pasture, 20s. of rent and a rent of 4 lb. pepper in 'Esthaddoun,' Brampton, Haldenby and Pisforde co. Northampton, and six messuages, 58½ acres of land, 7 acres of meadow, 4 acres of pasture and 20s. of rent in Ravensdene, Wyldene and Colmorde co. Bedford which by fine levied in the now king's court at Westminster her said husband and she had by grant of Thomas Cotes vicar of Potton for half a year with remainder to the said Thomas Wydevyle and the others, and to the heirs and assigns of Thomas Smyth. Bedford and Huntingdon, and of other lands, woods, waters, fisheries, warrens, franchises, rents, reversions, services etc. in Bolnhurst, Leigh, Pertenhale, Ford by St. Neots, Eton, Stapulho, Deuelho, Begery, Honyden, Wyboldeston, Rysle and Sharnebroke co. Bedford which Elizabeth his mother who was wife of the said Reynold in her widowhood has given to them, their heirs and assigns. Recognisance for 2,000 marks, to be levied etc. in Yorkshire.
Condition, that they shall pay the said bishop and the others 500l. at Easter next and 500l. at Michaelmas following, or within a month after those feasts.
Cancelled upon the acknowledgment of John Carpynter, in the name of the said bishop and the others.

James Berkeley knight to Edmund earl of Dorset, John Talbot knight lord Talbot and George Neville knight lord Latymer. Recognisance for, 5,000 marks, to be levied etc. in Gloucestershire.
Condition, that the said James Berkeley lord Berkeley shall abide and perform the award of John Fortescu chief justice appointed to hold pleas before the king, Richard Neweton knight chief justice of the Common Bench and John Fray chief baron of the exchequer between him and the said earl, Eleanor his wife, the said lord Talbot, Margaret his wife, the said lord Latymer and Elizabeth his wife touching the right, title and possession of all the manors, lands, etc. of the heritage of Thomas de Berkeley knight lord of Berkeley, grandfather of the said Eleanor, Margaret and Elizabeth, and all other manors, lands etc. whereof the said Thomas or others to his use were seised in Somerset, Gloucestershire and the march of Wales adjacent, and all matters which concern the same, so that their award be made in writing before Palm Sunday next.
