To the sheriff of York. Order under a pain of 1,000l., without delay to cause proclamation to be made, that no man of whatsoever estate, degree or condition shall upon his allegiance and under pain of forfeiture and imprisonment at the king's will make unlawful assemblies, routs and threatenings or do mischief to John cardinal archbishop of York or any serving in his church of York, their men, servants or tenants in their persons, goods, property, chattels or possessions, and if he shall find any so doing, order to take with him the posse comitatus, and without delay to arrest and imprison them until further order, certifying the king and council under seal of all his dealing; as the king is informed that a number of children of iniquity, breakers of the peace and enemies of God and man, going about to sow dissension among the people have invented and published tales devoid of truth against the cardinal to stir up, as they have, the hearts and minds of the hearers against him and his church and against them who serve God therein, by reason whereof a number of men armed and arrayed in manner of war have gathered unlawful assemblies and routs for such mischief as they might and may do to him, his men, servants and tenants within the county of York and elsewhere in their persons, goods and possessions, have broken and cast down his park and mill at Rypon, his enclosures and houses there and at Bysshopesthorp and elsewhere within the county, hunted, taken and carried away the deer in that park, assaulted, beaten, wounded, maimed and evilly treated his men, servants and tenants, so that the life of many of them is despaired of, laid wait for his men etc. and others of them within the county and elsewhere in secret places to beat, wound and slay or maim them, and daily so do, inflicting upon them such wrong and grievance that for their lives his men and servants have not for a long while dared and dare not now travail about his business, nor his tenants to do their tillage or make other profit, and doing other intolerable mischief in contempt of God and the king and for an evil example to others, and the king's will is to resist their malice and to chastise them according to their deserts, as he is bound to do.

Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 500 marks, made in chancery 7 June 21 Henry VI by Henry earl of Northumberland and Henry Percy knight his son for John Penyngton knight, and of an undertaking by him under the same pain, for his good behaviour toward the king and people, and that he shall in person appear before the king and council upon warning received.
Cancelled, because the king on 15 July this year sent to the chancellor the tenor of this memorandum signed with his own hand, together with a certain petition thereto annexed, to proceed as in that petition was requested.

Writing indented, being the last will of Robert Cristendom citizen and draper of London in respect of his lands etc. in London, Middlesex and Essex wherein divers persons are now enfeoffed to his use. First as to a messuage in 'Candelwykstrete' in the parish of St. Mary Abbechirche London called 'Stonepeles' with solar, cellar etc. wherein Robert Mowter, William Normanton clerks and Isabel Staunton of London widow are feoffees in trust with him to his use, the said Isabel shall when required after his death make a quitclaim thereof to the said clerks, their heirs and assigns, and as speedily as may be they shall sell the same at the best price they may, and shall dispose of the money in works of charity for his soul, the souls of his father, mother, friends and benefactors and of the faithful departed, as in masses, distribution to the poor etc. as they shall see best; as to his manor in 'Westham, Estham,' Layton, Stratforde Langthorne, Berkyng and Dagenham co. Essex and all other his lands, rents and services there wherein Robert Mowter and the said Isabel are feoffees in trust to his use, she shall when required after his decease make a quitclaim thereof to the said Robert, his heirs and assigns, and he shall straightway make a feoffment thereof to two or three men in fee simple, and they shall straightway again enfeoff Robert Mowter, William Normanton and others, as many as the said Robert will nominate, who shall sell the said manor, lands, etc. at the best price they may and dispose of the money as aforesaid; and as to all the messuages, lands etc. in the parishes of Stevenhithe and Bromeley co. Middlesex and 'Westham' and Berkyng co. Essex which Robert Cristendom purchased of Roger Hungarton chaplain and William atte Hoke butcher, and whereof Robert Mowter and William Normanton are feoffees in trust to his use, they shall after his death sell the same at the best price they may, and dispose of the money in works of charity for his soul. Essex, with wards, marriages, reliefs, reversions, rents, services, escheats, suits of court, woods, ways, paths, ditches, dikes, rights etc. thereto belonging, and all other lands, rents and services etc. in the towns and fields of 'Westham, Estham,' Leyton, Stratforde Langthorne, Berkinge and Dagenham and elsewhere in Essex which the said Robert and Robert, Isabel late the wife of John Staunton citizen and draper of London, her husband and Robert his son, both now deceased, had by demise and feoffment of Robert Dey clerk.
