To the bailiffs of Northampton for the time being. Order every year to pay to William Newman and John Newman the king's servants wages of 4d. a day during their lives and the life of the longest liver, and to pay them the arrears since 12 April last, on which date the king by letters patent granted them for their lives etc. the office of 'swanherde' throughout the river Thames and all tributaries thereof, and all other rivers between Gravesende and Cicestre, with proviso that they should cause no prejudice to any man by virtue of that grant, to be occupied by themselves or by deputy with wages of 4d. a day of the fee farm of the said town, or of other the issues and profits thereof arising, and with all other profits, fees etc. to that office belonging.
