Westminster.
Like order, mutatis mutandis, to the sheriff of Wiltesir in regard to John Gilberd, who is dead.

To the justices of the Bench. Order by advice of the council to adjourn until the quinzaine of Easter next all pleas to be pleaded before them from the morrow of the Purification next in the state wherein they would or ought to be if the writs touching the same were returned at the octaves of the Purification, fixing the said quinzaine for the parties suing, and commanding singular the sheriffs of England to keep all writs returnable from the said morrow to the said quinzaine until the latter day, and then return them; and the king's will is that from the return thereof the justices shall make such process as they would make if the date of the said octaves were kept; as for urgent business affecting himself, the estate and defence of the realm and church of England the king has appointed a parliament to be held at Bury St. Edmunds on St. Scolastica's day, namely 10 February next, there to have speech and treaty with the prelates, great men and lords of the realm and with the justices and others of the council, and for that cause the justices may not be present in person on the Bench to hear and determine pleas at the octaves of the Purification, wherefore by advice of the council he has made order that all pleas pending before them from the morrow of the Purification to the quinzaine of Easter shall be continued as aforesaid. To the men or bailiffs of the town of Notyngham for the time being. Order every year to pay to Richard Hoghton the king's servant, one of the yeomen of the crown, 6d. a day during his life, and to pay him the arrears since Michaelmas last; as for good service the king has granted him for life from that feast 6d. a day of the farm of that town and of the increase thereof.

Order to the sheriff of Berkshire for election of a verderer in Wyndesore forest instead of William Staverton, who is dead.

Order to the sheriff of Wiltesir for election of a verderer in the forest of Bradene instead of Thomas Criklade, who is too sick and aged to exercise the office of verderer therein.

To the chief butler of England or his deputy in the port of London for the time being. Order to deliver to Robert Cawode the king's serjeant, clerk of the pipe in the exchequer, and to Alice his wife during their lives and the life of the longest liver one tun a year of red wine of Gascony in that port, which the king has granted them between the feasts of St. Martin in winter and Easter, in consideration of the continual service of the said Robert to King Henry IV, the late king and the king for forty years and more.
