Westminster.
John Stanhope of Notynghamshire esquire to Peter Preston and John Berewe. Recognisance for 100 marks, to be levied etc. in Notynghamshire.
Condition, that he shall keep certain covenants in indentures made between the parties concerning a yearly rent of 19 marks lately granted by the king to the said Peter and John Berewe within the lordship of Edenstowe, and by them demised to John Stanhope to farm for a set time.

John Orgar and William Orgar, each of Ealdynge co. Kent 'husbondman,' to Hugh Stanlowe esquire and John Elmebrygge. Recognisance for 100 marks, to be levied etc. in Kent.
Condition, that John Orgar and any other persons having by him or to his use an estate or possession of the third part of a tenement in the parishes of Ealdyng, Brinthiley and Tudley co. Kent called Herenden, or in any parcel thereof, which part John Orgar lately had, shall before the feast of St. Nicholas next make thereof a good estate in law with warranty clause to the said Hugh and to William Stanlowe, Richard Illyngworth and John Elmebrigge, their heirs and assigns, that he shall before that feast deliver to the said Hugh all writings, evidences etc. in his keeping or the keeping of any other to his use which concern the said part or any parcel thereof, that he shall before the said feast cause the said charter or writing with clause of warranty to be enrolled of record in chancery, and that he shall abide and perform the award of Hugh Godwyn, the arbitrator chosen between the parties, concerning all debates, demands and trespasses, all damages and costs which the said Hugh has sustained by his default, as he avers, and all waste by John Orgar committed in the said part, as the said Hugh avers, after 31 May last.

Thomas Wykes of Staunton Drewe co. Somerset 'gentilman' to John Chokke of the same 'gentilman.' Quitclaim of all the lands etc. there sometime held of John Drewe by Isolda Whyght for her life; and warrant thereof against the abbot of St. Mary Kaynesham and his successors. Witnesses: John Sayntlo, Nicholas Sayntlo esquires, Stephen Forster, Robert Unwyn, William Clerke. Dated Monday after Allhallows 25 Henry VI.
Thomas Wykes of Staunton Drewe, and John Chokke of the same, son and heir of William Chokke of the same. Indenture reciting a charter of 20 October 41 Edward III whereby John Drewe of Staunton Drewe gave to the said William, his heirs and assigns, a rent of 10 marks issuing from all lands in Somerset then held by that grantor, that he was then seised of a moiety of the manor of Staunton Drewe, and that the said Thomas now has his estate therein; and witnessing a grant by John Chokke that the same shall remain in force, and the rent be leviable if the said Thomas his heirs or assigns, shall in any court of record of the king implead John Chokke, his heirs or assigns, for the lands there late of Isolda Whyght, or eject them, and otherwise the rent shall remain in suspense and not be levied. Dated (as the last).

Nicholas Suthcote, brother of William Suthcote, to John Fastolf knight, his heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of the five messuages with gardens, ways, paths, hedges, ditches, stanks, waters, rights etc. situate together in the parish of St. Olave in Suthwerk co. Surrey, between land of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England on the east, land sometime of Henry de Yevele on the west, the field called 'Horshighdoune' on the south and the river Thomes on the north, of the two messuages in the said parish called the 'Crowchehous' by 'Batailbrigge,' and of all other the lands therein sometime of John Olyver and Joan his wife, grandfather and grandmother of the said Nicholas, which John Fastolf and Richard duke of York, William Alnewyk bishop of Lincoln, Thomas lord Scales, William Oldehalle knights, John Malton and John Gairgrave esquire had by grant of William Suthcote, except a field called 'Dunlesfelde' by 'Horshighdoune.' Memorandum of a mainprise under a pain of 40l., made in chancery 25 November 25 Henry VI by John Grisley of Derbyshire knight, Hugh Wrottesley of Staffordshire esquire, Richard Ireton and Nicholas Fynderne, both of Derbyshire esquires, for John Makworth clerk, and of an undertaking by him under a pain of 200l., that he shall do or procure no hurt or harm to John Derby clerk.
The dean and chapter of the college of St. Mary Newerk in the town of Leicestre to Ralph Wodecoke their neif pertaining to their manor of Hanyngton co. Wiltsir and all his issue. Writing of manumission, for a sum of money beforehand paid. Dated the chapter house Leicestre, 19 May 1437, 15 Henry VI.
The (said) dean and chapter to John Wodecoke their neif pertaining to the (same) manor. (Like) manumission. Dated (as the last).
Memorandum of acknowledgment of the foregoing writings in the chapter house of the (said) college on Saturday after St. Giles the Abbot this year before William Aston 'gentilman,' by virtue of a dedimus potestatem which is on the chancery file for 24 Henry VI.
John Brydde to Thomas Bate esquire. Gift and quitclaim of the office of ranger and bowbearer of 'Allerwas hay, Hopwas haye, Teddesley haye, Ogley haye, Bentley haye, Chistlyne haye' and 'Gabley haye' and of the king's forest of Canke, and of all wages and fees such as Richard de Hampton late ranger of that forest had, with all the profits, commodities and emoluments to that office pertaining, which by letters patent of 3 December last the king gave to the said John and Thomas, to be occupied by themselves or by deputy for their lives and the life of the longest liver. Dated St. Nicholas' day 25 Henry VI.

Warrewyk in a street called 'Swyneschepyng' otherwise 'Swynesmarket' which, by name of two burgages lying together in 'Swyneschepyngge' between a burgage of John Clynton knight and a burgage sometime of Philip Bedeforde and extending from the high street to land of John Hornere, Henry Catton late of Tamworth and John Bette chaplain had by feoffment of John Loughteborow of Tamworth and Agnes his wife. Oxford, whereof the grantor is tenant by grant of Richard Walkestede knight and Elizabeth his wife for her life, under a condition for defeasance upon payment by the said Walter of 146l. 13s. 4d. in the church of St. Dunstan 'West' within New Temple bar London, to wit 48l. on the feast of Allhallows next, 49l. on the feast of Allhallows following, and 49l. 13s. 4d. on the feast of Allhallows following, but in case of default, or if he or his heirs shall allege payment elsewhere made, or acquittance bearing date elsewhere, this writing shall remain in force.
