Richard Horton of London 'gentilman' to Richard Soham. Recognisance for 60l., to be levied etc. in the city of London.

John Norys esquire for the king's body, John Norman esquire, Thomas Aventre yeoman of the crown, Sampson Vikers yeoman of the queen's chamber and John Baker, to Thomas Babham yeoman of the crown. Grant during their lives of such share, power, authority, estate and interest as to them pertains in the offices hereinafter mentioned by virtue of letters patent of 27 November 19 Henry VI, whereby the king granted to them and to William Norman deceased the offices or occupations of packing of all woollen cloths, woolfells, calves' fells, vessels of pewter and other merchandise packed or enclosed in tuns, pipes, barrels or otherwise, with oversight of the measuring, counting and weighing thereof, and of the opening of customable merchandise entering or leaving harbour by land and water within the liberties of the city and suburbs of London, whether goods of natives or aliens, and the offices of packing all woollen cloths, woolfells, lambs' fells and calves' fells with the 'kippyng' and 'pouderyng' thereof, and all vessels of pewter and other merchandise which shall be packed, kipped or powdered in London or the suburbs thereof, or carried by land and customed in the ports of Southampton or Sandewich or in any other port, and of the carriage and portage of all wool, fells, tin, bales and other merchandise carried in London from the river Thames to houses of aliens and thence to the river, or other merchandise in any house to be carried later, with the wages and profits used of old time, also the offices of [packing] all woollen cloth, woolfells, calves' fells, vessels of pewter and other merchandise, packed or enclosed in tuns, pipes, barrels or otherwise in the port of Southampton, with oversight of the measuring and counting thereof, of the opening of all customable merchandise entering or leaving harbour by land and water both of natives and aliens, and of the carriage etc. of all wools, fells, tin, bales etc. there carried from the river to houses of aliens and thence to the river, or put in any house to be carried later, taking there the wages, profits etc. used in London, with power to seize as forfeit to the king's use any merchandise entering port and upon land found to be uncustomed, taking for their pains a moiety thereof according to the statute, to be occupied by themselves or by deputy for their lives and the life of the longest liver, taking a fee of 100s. of the customers of London as used to be done of old time, and all wages, profits etc. to those offices pertaining, namely to execute or exercise the same jointly with them as freely as any of them may or ought to do, taking jointly such wages, fees, rewards and profits as any of them does or ought to take. John Hamond otherwise Hamound of Bromham co. Bedford 'yoman' to Ralph Bole of Bedford, Rose his wife, late the wife of John Crote of Bedford, and Roger Bole, their heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of the whole tenement or messuage in the parish of St. John Bedford between a toft of the master of St. John Bedford on the south and a toft or piece of land of the abbess and convent of Elnystowe on the north, abutting eastward upon the high way and westward upon 'Pylcroft' otherwise 'Pedecroft,' Thomas Kempston being mayor of Bedford, William Underwode and James Moston bailiffs. Walter Neuland of Coggeshale co. Essex, son of Richard son of Henry son of Mauger de la Neulande, to William Taverner of London and Ellen Tirovill and to their heirs. Quitclaim with warranty of the whole manor called 'Neulandhalle' in the hamlets of Rokeswell and Lutwode by Wrytele co. Essex, and all lands, woods, rents, services, liberties, rights, profits etc. thereto pertaining. Dated 12 May 26 Henry VI.

Northumberland, void by death of master Thomas Chace and in their gift by virtue of letters patent of 4 September 27 Henry VI, whereby in consideration of their good service the king gave them the next advowson or gift of the said chapel, with power that time only to collate or present whom they would whensoever the same should next be void by death, resignation, deprivation, surrender, exchange, composition or otherwise.
