Membrane 1d. (fn. 1)
Oct. 8.
Westminster.
To the abbot and convent of Glastonburye. Request to admit George Assheby, clerk of the signet, to their house, and minister to him such maintenance as John Welles or any other heretofore had therein, making him letters patent under the common seal of the house with mention of what he shall receive, and writing again by the bearer what they will do; as in consideration of his good and unpaid service with the queen on either side the sea the king has sent him to them. Proviso that this grant be not to the prejudice of Merton college in the university of Oxford, nor of the king's college of St. Mary and St. Nicholas in that of Cantabrigge. By p.s. [9706], and the date etc.
