To the sheriff of Worcester. Order, as he would be saved harmless toward the king, upon receipt hereof forthwith to cause proclamation to be made, that no man of whatsoever estate, degree or condition shall presume to give any man badges or liveries contrary to the statutes, nor to use the same nor to go or ride armed with lances, 'launcegayes, gleyves' and other arms contrary to the laws under the pains therein contained and under pains and forfeitures now of late provided by the king and council, the king's livery and the livery of Edward prince of Wales his firstborn son excepted; as to his displeasure the king has learned what disturbances, riots, unlawful assemblies, murders, homicides and mischiefs daily result from liveries of badges and cloth given and used for confederacy and maintenance contrary to the ordinances and statutes provided against the gift and use thereof, not only in contempt of the king but in breach of the peace to the oppression of the people, and this he will not endure, but his will is that the statutes etc. be put in due execution.
