Richard duke of York, to the king. Recognisance for 10,000l., to be levied etc. in Yorkshire.
Condition, that he shall abide and obey the king's award touching all controversies, trespasses, debts, debates, actions, offences, condemnations, executions and demands between him and Eleanor duchess of Somerset, Henry duke of Somerset her son, Eleanor countess of Northumberland, Henry earl of Northumberland, John Clifford lord Clifford, Thomas Percy, knight, lord Egremount, Richard Percy his brother, all brethren and sisters of the said duke of Somerset, earl of Northumberland and lord Clifford, and all servants and tenants of theirs and of the said duchess and countess, Thomas Percy and Richard Percy to this date, so that the same be rendered in writing under the great seal before Michaelmas day next.

John Panys, son and heir of John Panys of Neubury co. Berkshire 'gentilman,' to Thomas Clerke, son of William Clerke of Neubury, and to Margery his sister, and to the heirs and assigns of the said Thomas. Indenture of lease with warranty for fifty years from the Annunciation next of the manor of Elme co. Somerset and all other lands, rents and services, woods, underwoods, wards, marriages, homages, reliefs, heriots, escheats, profits and perquisites of courts, fines and amercements of freeholders and neifs etc. in the towns and fields of Chattelegh, Wasiysweke by Norton, Telysforde and Farlegh and the advowson of Elme church, rendering yearly 5 marks: the lessees shall bear all tallages and charges thereupon, and repair all houses, walls (mures), hedges and enclosures; and the lessor is bound to keep all these covenants by a recognisance in chancery of even date for 100 marks. Dated 5 February, 30 Henry VI.
John Panys (as above), to (the said) Thomas Clerke and Margery his sister, and to the heirs and assigns of the said Thomas. Quitclaim of the manor and advowson of Elme, and all lands, rents, reversions, services, woods, underwoods, wards, marriages etc. in Chattelegh, Wasiysweke by Norton, Telysforde and Farlegh co. Somerset which they hold by his grant, and which ought to have descended to the said John after his father's death. Witnesses: Richard Abberbury, Richard Champer, John Croke, Richard Chocke, John Whitoxemede, Nicholas Clerke, Thomas Godarde. Dated 10 April, 36 Henry VI.
Memorandum of acknowledgment of the foregoing indenture and writing at Benham co. Berkshire, 10 July this year, before John Roger the elder esquire, by virtue of a dedimus potestatem which is on the chancery file for this year.
