Richard Lee citizen and grocer and alderman, and John Michell citizen and grocer, both of London, to the king. Recognisance for 673l. 15s., to be levied etc. in the city of London.
Condition, that whereas before the arrest made by authority of divers letters of the king, of goods and wares of merchants of Genoa residing in England, John Michell and John Stokes citizen and grocer of London by a contract made with Jerome Lomelyn one of the merchants of Genoa bargained and procured of him 385 bales of 'wode' marked with a mark called the 'hert' for 673l. 15s., and the same were arrested as goods of the said Jerome, which after the contract they were not, if it shall hereafter be adjudged before the council or in any other court of record that those goods and the said sum ought to pertain to the king, that sum shall be fully paid to the king, or to another by his assignment, within one month after delivery of such judgment.
Cancelled, for that by petition presented by the said merchants, and viewed and understood by deliberation of the lords of the council, the king conceived that under conditions in the council declared it was reasonable that the merchants and their goods should be set free, wherefore by letter under his signet of 24 October, 38 Henry VI, with the petition enclosed under his sign manual, he did command William bishop of Winchester the chancellor to discharge Richard Lee and John Michell, as appears by the said letter and petition which are upon the chancery file.

Order to take again their letters patent concerning a corrody or maintenance for life in the abbey which Edward Bromflete esquire the king's serjeant has at the king's nomination in right of his prerogative, to admit the said Edward and Henry Upton the king's servant to their house, and minister the same to them for their lives and the life of the longest liver, as fully as any other person heretofore had there or ought to have had, making them other letters patent under the common seal of the house with mention of what they shall take, and writing again by the bearer what they will do; as Edward Bromflete is minded to surrender his interest therein to the end that the king might make a new grant thereof to him and Henry Upton, and in consideration of their good and acceptable service the king has granted the same to them with all rights, profits, dues etc. as aforesaid.
