Declaration of John the abbot of Saint Albone and the covent, that where the kynge by lettres patentes, yeven at Westminster 24 March, 36 Henry VI, awardede amonge other, for consideracions in the same declared, that within tow yeres by Richard duke of Yorke, Richard erle of Warrewyke and Richard erle of Salesbury and by their charges ther bee yeven and amortessed to the monasterie, where the bodyes of Edmund late duke of Somerset, Henri late erle of Northumbrelonde and Thomas late lorde Clyfford slain in a metyng and encounteryng at Seint Albones been beryede, 45li. of yerely lyvelode for masses, suffragies, obit and almouse for their soules and the soules of al other slayne there at that tyme, the same to be kept perpetually as shall be declared hereafter, and that the duke of York and erles of Warrewyk and Salisbury pay in every of the two yeres afore amortesment 45li. or the rate therof for thafferant of the tyme the mortesment shall remayne undoone, they have resceived of the seide duke and erles 45li. for a hoole yere, and therof acquite them. Thomas Ravener, Robert Ravener and John Upton, to Rose Bokelond, late the wife of Thomas Bokelond of 'Nether Halford.' Charter indented of demise of all the lands, woods, rents and services in 'Nether Halford, Up Halford,' Sheperton and Sondbury co. Middlesex, Chertesey and Waybrugge co. Surrey or elsewhere within the realm which the grantors, with Stephen Dey now deceased, had by feoffment of Thomas Bokelond and Rose for her life without impeachment of waste; granting to John Bokelond son of Thomas Bokelond and to the heirs male of his body the remainder of all the lands, rents and services in 'Nether Halford' in the parish of Sheperton, and two woods in the parish of Chertesey called 'Newridon' and Betonrydon, except a cottage and 2½ acres of land in the parish of Sheperton sometime of Simon Savage, and if he or his heirs shall make waste therein, it shall be lawful for Robert Bokeland his brother to enter and thrust them out; the remainder of all the lands, woods, rents and services in 'Uphalford' in the parish of Sondbery, a wood in the parish of Chertesey called 'Spynney,' the said cottage and land in Sheperton and 4 acres of land in Persynge in the parish of Waybrugge to William Bokelond brother of John and to the heirs male of his body, the remainder of a croft of land called 'Threcornercroft,' a field called 'Recarddisfeld' and a croft called 'Columlond' in the parish of Chertesey to Richard Bokelond son of Thomas and to the heirs male of his body; and the remainder of all the lands, woods, rents and services in the parish of Chertesey which they had as aforesaid, except those above given in fee tail, to Robert Bokelond brother of Richard and to the heirs male of his body: proviso that if John Bokelond die without issue male in the life time of Robert or any such heir of his, and of the said William and Richard or heirs male of their bodies, the remainder to him shall be void, that one moiety of his lands shall remain to William and his heirs aforesaid, remainder to Robert and his said heirs, the other moiety to Richard and his said heirs, remainder to Robert and his said heirs, and if William and Richard die without such issue, their remainder of those moieties shall be void, and the remainder of John's lands shall be to Robert his brother and the heirs male of his body, remainder thereof and of other lands whereof Robert or his heirs shall hereby be seised in fee tail to William and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Richard and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Edward Bokelond brother of Thomas and to the heirs male of his body, remainder to William Bokelond esquire brother of Thomas and to the heirs male of his body, remainder to the right heirs of Walter Bokelond father of Thomas; if William son of Thomas die without issue male, the lands etc. in 'Up Halford,' the 'Spynney,' the cottage and land in Sheperton and land in Persynge shall remain to John Bokelond and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Robert and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Richard and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Edward Bokelond etc. (as above); if Richard die without issue male, 'Trecornercrofte, Recarddesfeld' and 'Columlond' shall remain to John Bokelond and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Robert and the heirs male of his body, remainder to William brother of Robert and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Richard Bokelond (sic) and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Richard Bokelond (sic) and the heirs male of his body, and if the said Edward (sic) die without issue male to William Bokelond esquire etc. (as above); if Robert Bokelond die without issue male, the lands etc. in Chertesey with the exceptions aforesaid shall remain to John Bokelond and the heirs male of his body, remainder to William his brother and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Richard and the heirs male of his body, remainder to Edward Bokelond etc. (as before).
