Westminster.
To the sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk for the time being. Order every year to pay to William Hill the wages hereinafter mentioned, and to pay him the arrears since 30 July last, on which date the king appointed him for life purveyor of all stonemasons, plumbers and other workmen and labourers, and of all stocks needful for his works within the palace of Westminster and Tower of London, with all wages, fees, profits etc. to that office due and accustomed of old time, to be taken of the issues, profits and revenues of the said counties.

Aug. 4.
Oxford.
To the receivers, farmers, reeves or other the occupiers for the time being of the manor of Craneborne co. Wiltshire. Order to pay to John Malpas esquire and Joan his wife and to the longest liver an annuity of 20 marks a year which for good and unpaid service the king has granted to them of the issues, farms, profits and revenues of the said manor.

Westminster.
To the receivers, farmers, bailiffs, approwers or other the occupiers for the time being of the manor or lordship of Middelton and the hundreds of Middelton and Merden co. Kent. Order to pay to John Gyldeford esquire for life 40 marks a year and the arrears since 30 August last, on which date the king granted to him for life 40 marks a year of the issues, profits and revenues of the said manor and hundreds.

Westminster.
To the farmers, bailiffs, receivers, approwers or other the occupiers for the time being of the (same) manor and hundreds. Order to pay to Isabel who was wife of Robert Hoorne esquire 40 marks a year for life and the arrears since Michaelmas day last; as by letters patent of 30 August last, the king granted her for life from Michaelmas, in aid of her maintenance and maintenance of her three daughters by the said Robert, 40 marks a year of the issues and profits of the said manor and hundreds.

To the sheriffs of London and Middlesex for the time being. Order to pay to John Pylkyngton 50 marks a year for life and the arrears since 2 April last; as by letters patent of 7 July last, the king appointed him one of the esquires for his body for life, taking from 2 April, 50 marks a year of the fee farm of the said counties and of the issues, profits, farms and revenues thereof.
Oct. 21.
Westminster.
To the men of the town of Derby, or the bailiffs or other the occupiers thereof for the time being. Order to pay to Richard Neel 40l. a year for life and the arrears since Easter last; as by letters patent of 26 July last, for good and acceptable service, of his mere motion and particular knowledge the king granted to the said Richard for life from that feast 40l. a year of the farm of the said town and the increase thereof.

Westminster.
To the sheriff of Northampton for the time being. Order to pay to Ralph Hastynges esquire for life 50 marks a year and the arrears since 2 April last; as by letters patent of 7 July last, for good and unpaid service the king appointed him for life one of the esquires for his body, taking from 2 April, 50 marks a year of the issues, profits, farms and revenues of the said county.
Nov. 2.
Westminster.
To the treasurer and the chamberlains for the time being. Order every year to pay to Arthur Grayson the king's serjeant 12d. a day during his life, and to pay him the arrears since 4 March last; as the king has granted to him the office of one of his serjeants at arms for life, taking from that date 12d. a day by the hands of the treasurer and the chamberlains.
July 1.
Westminster.
To the receiver for the time being of the manor and lordship of Wakefeld co. York. Order to pay to Nicholas Pemberton esquire 100s. a year and the arrears; as by letters patent of 18 April, 30 Henry VI, Richard duke of York earl of Ulster lord of Wyggemore and Clare gave to the said Nicholas for life for good and praiseworthy service a yearly rent of 20s. of the issues, profits and revenues of the said manor and lordship; and on 20 June last the king confirmed his grant.

To the collectors for the time being of the customs upon wool and woolfells in the port of Calais. Order to pay to Richard Whetehill esquire 8d. a sack by weight upon wool and woolfells leaving the town of Calais; as the king has granted to him for life the offices of controller of Calais and the marches and of the money made within that town, and of changer and assayer of money therein, to be occupied by himself or by deputy, taking yearly 8d. a sack as aforesaid by the hands of the collectors or of the treasurer of Calais at his choice, and the fees, wages and profits to his said offices due and accustomed.

To the receiver general of the duchy of Cornwall for the time being. Order to pay to John Penfoun the king's serjeant during his life the wages and fees hereinafter mentioned; as for good service the king has granted to him for life the office of troner of tin and lead in Devon and Cornwall, to be occupied by himself or by deputy, with all wages, fees, profits etc. thereto due and accustomed of old time.
Aug. 16.
Westminster.
To the sheriffs of London and Middlesex for the time being. Order every year to pay to William Lee citizen and 'joynour' of London 12d. a year during his life, and to pay him the arrears; as by letters patent of 9 March last, the king granted to him for life the office of janitor within the Tower of London, to be occupied by himself or by deputy, taking wages of 12d. a day of the farm of the said counties, and of the issues, profits and revenues thereof.
July 26.
Westminster.
To the mayor, sheriff and bailiffs of Bristol, or to the receivers, farmers or other the occupiers of that town for the time being. Order every year to pay to Humphrey Stafford of Suthwik knight 20l. a year, 2d. a day, 3d. a day and ½d. a night and 7½d. a day during his life, and to pay him the arrears since Easter day last; as for his good, unpaid and praiseworthy service the king has granted to him for life etc. (as above, p. 18).
Oct. 28.
Westminster.
To the sheriff of York for the time being. Order to pay to John duke of Norfolk 25 marks a year for life and the arrears for Michaelmas term last; as by letters patent of 12 August last, the king granted to him for life from Easter last the keeping of Scardeburgh castle and all issues and profits etc. to that castle pertaining to the value of 20l. a year, to be occupied by himself or by deputy taking 25 marks a year of the issues, revenues, farms and profits of the county of York.
To the bailiffs or farmers of the town of Scardeburgh for the time being. Like order for payment to the said duke of 25 marks a year of the issues or farm of that town.

To the sheriff of Kent for the time being. Order to pay to William Pecche knight one of the king's carvers 40l. a year, which for good service the king has granted to him of the farms, issues, profits and revenues of that county.

To the sheriff, approwers or other the occupiers for the time being of the counties of Bedford and Buckingham. Order to pay to Nicholas Lathell of the exchequer 20l. a year for life until by grant of the king he shall have for life an office or gift of the same yearly value, and to pay him the arrears since 4 March last; as the king has granted to him from that date 20l. a year of the issues, profits, farms and revenues of the said counties until etc. (as above).

To the treasurer of Calais for the time being. Order every year to pay Thomas Clampard 12d. a day during his life, and to pay him the arrears since 30 November, on which date the king granted to him for life the office of chief smith of the town of Calais and the marches and overseer of all the smiths' craft thereof, to be occupied by himself or by deputy, taking the wages due and accustomed of old time, with a dwelling without the town walls called 'Feryhouse,' and all profits etc. to that office and dwelling due and accustomed in time of King Edward III and Richard II; and at command of the king the treasurer and the barons of the exchequer have certified that in 32 Edward III, 12d. a day was allowed to Richard Eccleshale the treasurer of Calais for wages of Master de Olneye the king's smith there.

To the bailiffs and citizens of Canterbury for the time being. Order to pay to John Isaak 13l. 17s. 8d. a year and the arrears, namely 4l. 12s. 6½d. for Easter and 9l. 5s. 1½d. for Michaelmas last, as it is found by inqusition, taken before Thomas Seyntclere the late king's escheator in Kent, that William Isaak esquire died seised of that yearly sum of the farm of the said city, namely 4l. 12s. 6½d. at Easter and 9l. 5s. 1½d. at Michaelmas as his share of 30l. a year which King Edward III granted to William son of John Cundy and to his heirs in recompense for the bailiwick of the town of Sandewich, that William Isaak was his cousin and one of his heirs, namely son of John Isaak son of Agnes daughter of Margaret one of his sisters and heirs, that the same and the residue of the said 30l. were held of the late king in chief by fealty only for all services, and that John Isaak esquire son of John is brother and next heir of William Isaak esquire, and of full age; and by writ of 26 June, 25 Henry VI, the late king ordered his escheator to give John Isaak esquire, whose fealty he took, seisin of the said sum, taken into that king's hand by the death of William Isaak.
