Sept. 18. Indenture between John Wilteshyre on the one part and John Asplon on the other, witnesseth: that John Wilteshyre demised to farm to John Asplon his manor of Heyden, and all other lands and tenements, rents and services therein and in Cresshall and Chishull co. Essex, formerly of Nicholas Wilteshyre, with woods, meadows and pastures saving the reservation to the said John Wilteshyre of the advowson of Heydon church, and pasture for a cow called 'Heydonbusshis,' the above lands with the aforesaid exceptions to be held by John Asplon from 18 September to Michaelmas after the date of this indenture and from Michaelmas (1466) for a term of three years, rendering annually to the said John Wilteshyre and his heirs nineteen marks, three shillings and fourpence a year with the usual clause of distress after each term: and he shall from the beginning of the lease repair all houses of the manor in carpentry (capentria), roofing and plaster (dabatura) and walls, hedges, gates, thresholds and windows where necessary, at his own expense: and after that term the said John Asplon shall carry out the necessary repairs during the term at his expense: and shall be allowed to hold the manor to the Nativity of St. John Baptist after the expiration of the term.
