Gilbert Shirlacres clerk and Peter Athirton esquire, to Edward Bethum knight, son and heir of Thomas Bethum esquire, his heirs and assigns. Demise and confirmation by charter indented of Coweburne manor co. Lancaster, and of all other manors, messuages, lands, tenements, rents and services in Kirkeby Botill, Forneby, Brynyng, Kellermere and Ravenshawe co. Lancaster, and elsewhere, within the realm which they held by gift of the said Henry, to be held by the above Edward Bethum, his heirs and assigns in capital demesne as of fee etc. with remainder successively to Roger, William and Richard Bethum, his brothers, and failing issue to any of these, with remainder to John Bethum his kinsman, and then to the right heirs of the said Edward; and appointment of Peter and Richard Cornethwayte 'yomen' as their attorneys etc. to convey seisin of the same. Witnesses: Thomas lord Stanley knight, Robert Egremond, abbot of Cokkersand, Thomas Hexam, prior of Lethum, William Stanley knight, Thomas Pylkyngton esquire, Henry Halsall, Richard Clyfton. Dated 5 June, 2 Edward IV.
