PRAYERS.

Barnes' Arrears.

ORDERED, That the humble Petition of Rob. Barnes, Captain of the Ship, called the Esperance of Dartmouth, in the County of Devon, be referred to the Committee of the Navy, to consider what his Arrears are, and of a Way to satisfy him.

Sussex Committee.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Tho. Henley Knight, James Templer, Serjeant Jermyn, Anth. Fowle, Wm. Michelbourne, F. Selwyn, Jo. Boord, Law. Ashburneham, Ralph Cooper, Geo. Churcher, Wm. Aylway, Esquires, be added to the Committees of the Ordinance of Association for Sussex.

Plundered Ministers.

Mr. Prideaux, Mr. Browne, Mr. Hill, Mr. Rous, Sir Anth. Irby, * Selden, added to the Committee of plundered Ministers, as to this Business.

Saint Martin's in the Fields Minister.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for plundered Ministers, to call the Bishop of London before them: and to require him, according to the Order, to collate, to Saint Martin's in the Fields, Mr. Strickland; and to receive his Answer.

Hertford Brewers.

Ordered, That the humble Petition and Information of the Common Brewers of the County of Herts, be referred to the Commissioners of Excise, to examine, and consider of the Matters contained in the Petition; and to certify their Opinions.

Debt to Craven.

The humble Petition of John Craven, one of the Scouts belonging to the Militia of London, concerning a Debt of Fifty-two Pounds due unto him from Nicholas Wolfe, since deceased, a Prisoner to the Parliament, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That the Petitioner shall have Liberty to take his Course for Recovery of the Debt at Law, notwithstanding that the Estate lies under Sequestration.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the Services done to the Publick by John Craven, one of the Scouts belonging to the Militia of London, be referred to the Committee for the Safety; and that they give Order for Ten Pounds presently to be paid unto him, by way of Encouragement to him in his Service.

Cooke's Arrears, &c.

The humble Petition of Dame Jane Cooke, late Wife of Sir Rob. Cooke, one of the Members of this House; desiring her Estate. might be discharged of Rates and Taxes, and that her Husband's Arrears might be satisfied.

As for the Discharge of her Estate from Rates and Taxes the House declared, They could do nothing in That; but have referred the Consideration of the Arrears to the Committee of Gloucester; with the Addition of Sir Oliver Luke and Sir Ben. Rudyer, as to this Petition.

Excise on Flesh.

Resolved, &c. That the House be forthwith resolved into a Grand Committee, to take into Consideration the setting of an Excise upon Flesh.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair accordingly.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Knightley carried up to the Lords the Ordinance for settling a Garison .. Newport Pagnall: The Ordinance for Repayment of One thousand Pounds to Captain Danvers, for so much lent.

Money for Kent.

Ordered, That Sir F. Barnham do pay the Hundred Marks advanced by him, and accepted by the House, to Sir Tho. Walsingham, for the Service of the County of Kent.

Portugal Ambassador.

Ordered, That the Warden and Master of the Company of Stationers do print the Portugal Ambassador's Book.

French Ambassador.

Ordered, That a Servant of the Prince D'Harcourt shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant, in the usual Manner, to go into France.

Message from Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Edw. Leech and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have already sworn the Clerk of the Crown; and they are ready to give the further Oath, concerning the Triennial Parliament, to the Commissioners of the Great Seal, according to an Act of Parliament, made this Parliament; and desire this House would send up their Members Commissioners.

They have likewise sent you a Petition they have received from Wilkes Fitchett and Wm. Shallaker, that furnished Fewel to the Lords House, according to Custom.

The Petition was read: And

Fitchett's, &c. Claims.

It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee for his Majesty's Revenue, to examine what is justly due to the Petitioners; and to take Order that the Petitioners may receive Satisfaction for such Monies, as shall appear justly due unto them.

Answer to Lords.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and will send up their Members, that are Commissioners of the Great Seal, to be sworn; and have put the Petition in a Way of Satisfaction to the Petitioners.

Message to Lords.

Mr. Holles went up to the Lords, to desire that the Master of the Rolls may be sworn in the Presence of both Houses: And likewise was appointed to desire a Conference by Committees of both Houses, concerning some Letters and Papers received from the Commissioners of both Houses in Scotland: And likewise carried up the Order for Dr. Burges to be Lecturer of Paul's.

Watford Vicarage.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Philip Goodwyn be admitted into the Vicarage of Watford; and that Sir Gilb. Gerard do bring in an Ordinance to that Purpose.

Commissioners of Great Seal, &c.

Sir Rob. Pye is appointed to go to the, Lords, to acquaint them, that the House will come up to the Swearing of the Commissioners, and the Master of the Rolls; and to desire, that the Commissioners, and the Master of the Rolls, may, in the Presence of both Houses, take as well the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, as the Oath concerning the Triennial Parliament.

Heath's Claims.

The humble Petition of Dorothy Heath, Widow, the Relict of Rob. Heath, late of the Savoy Parish, Cutler, deceased; concerning Eight Hundred Pounds due unto her said Husband for Blades, &c.: And likewise, concerning Five hundred Pounds Fifteen Shillings Ninepence seized from her Husband, being Part of the Collection of the Two intire Subsidies of Part of the Hundred of Osalston, in the County of Middlesex, whereof he was High Collector; the which Money was carried into Guildhall; was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That the Treasurers at Guildhall of Money and Plate do, out of the first Monies that come to their Hands, belonging to the State, pay Five hundred Pounds Fifteen Shillings and Nine-pence to the Chamberlain of London, for so much of the Monies upon the Two intire Subsidies seized in the Hands of Rob. Heath, High Collector of Part of the Collection of Osalston Hundred, in the County of Middlesex: And that the Chamberlain of London do give an Acquittance to Mrs. Dorothy Heath, Relict of the said Rob. Heath: And that Mr. Recorder do bring in an Order for the clearing and acquitting Mrs. Heathe from the Claim of this Debt, which may be entred upon the Roll in the Exchequer; and that all Processes and Proceedings against her may be stayed in the mean time.

Princess Elizabeth.

A Message from the Lords, by Serjeant Whittfield and Dr. Aylett;

The Lords have this Morning received a Letter from Princess Elizabeth; wherein she takes Notice, that many of her Servants are to be taken from her, and Strangers to be put upon her; which will be inconvenient, in regard of her Weakness: The Lords know nothing of this Business; and desire to know, if this House do know any thing of it.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Mr. Holles brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Vote concerning Dr. Burges; to the Desires concerning the Swearing of the Commissioners of the Great Seal; and concerning the Swearing of the Master of the Rolls en plein Parlement; and to a Conference concerning the Papers from Scotland.

Commissioners of Great Seal, &c.

The Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod came down from the Lords to acquaint the House, That the Lords were now ready to swear the Commissioners of the Great Seal, and the Master of the Rolls, en plein Parlement, if this House were ready to come up.

Mr. Speaker, and the whole House, went up accordingly.

Farthing Token Office, &c.

Sir Antho. Irby, Mr. Hill, Sir G. Gerard, Sir Chr. Wray, Mr. Cage, Sir Wm. Strictland, Mr. Jenner, Mr. Recorder, Mr. Corbett, Mr. Bond, Mr. Holland, Mr. Whittacre, Mr. Browne, Mr. Beding feilde, Mr. Roll, Sir Ben. Budyard, Mr. Strode, Sir Edw. Aiscough, Serjeant Wilde;

This Committee, or any Four of them, are appointed to take into Consideration the whole Accounts of the Fathing Token Office, and of all Receipts and Disbursements; and to examine the Abuse of importing Counterfeit Farthings; and to consider how it may be prevented: And have Power to receive such Propositions, as shall be presented to them, for the better making of Farthings, and preserving them from counterfeiting; and to consider how the Farthing Token Office may be employed for the Advantage of the State; and to consider of all things conducing to the better regulating of that Office: And are to meet on Monday, at Three Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber, and so from time to time when they please: And this Business is specially recommended to Mr. Hill: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses.

Herne's Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of Richard Herne, Printer, be referred to the Committee for Examinations, to take it into Consideration, for Relief of the Petitioner.

Bishops Weremouth Parsonage.

An Order for sequestring the Parsonage of Bishops Weremouth, in the County of Durham, being become void by the Death of John Johnson, late Rector thereof, to the Use and Benefit of Wm. Johnston, Master of Arts, a godly and orthodox Divine; who is forthwith to officiate the said Cure, as Rector; and to preach diligently to the Parishioners of the said Parish, in the said Church there; and to receive the Rents and Profits of the said Parsonage, paying all Duties to his Majesty; was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered accordingly.
