John Gunthorpe, John Herte clerks, Thomas Burght, Marmaduke Constable knights, Robert Sheffelde, Edmund Twates, William Paynell, Richard Wasselyn, Ralph Gascoign, John Fulneby, John Villers esquires, Henry and Nicholas Suthyll and Robert West gentlemen, to John Suthyll, esquire of Everyngham, and Alice his wife, their heirs and assigns. Demise and confirmation by charter of the manors of Everyngham, Garthome and Neweton co. York, with all lands and tenements, meadows, lesues, pastures, woods, moors, marshes and waters therein, with marriages, wardships, reliefs, escheats, homages and bondages, and the advowson of the church or chantry of Everyngham, which they had by gift of John Suthyll, with impeachment of waste: and appointment of Alexander Wilyamson and Robert Cliderowe as their attorneys etc. to convey seisin of the same. Appointment by Thomas earl of Ormond son of John lord Ormond by license of the king, of his kinsman James Ormond as his deputy and special attorney in the counties of Kylkenny and Tipperary in Ireland, to hold the said office during the pleasure of Thomas, granting him full authority therein, together with the rule of the castles of Kylkenny and Carrik, and over all manors, demesnes, lands and tenements in the counties aforesaid, with powers to move, convoke, levy, govern and assemble on a war-like footing or otherwise, all and singular his tenants and inhabitants of those counties, as he shall judge expedient, to chastise the king's adversaries and to put down insurrections: with like order to call all his kinsmen, bailiffs, constables and tenants to obey the commands of the said James: provided that the latter interfere not by removing officers or tenants in the said counties, or that those appointed to collect the earls' rents and profits of his castles, shall answer to him without molestation of the said James. Dated 7 December, 7 Henry VII.
Indenture between Thomas earl of Ormond and James Ormond, whereby James, as deputy for the said earl in the counties of Kylkenny and Tipperary, shall have, after the earl be paid, the rents of his inheritance in Ireland, the residue of all such rents: paying wages and fees as of old times accustomed: and receiving the customary tallage of 'Kye' in the county of Ormond which the late earls enjoyed: together with certain usage and custom in times of war called the 'holding' of men to be led by him: and James shall keep the said counties from burning, waste, overriding and invasion by wild Irish or other foes and will extend his authority by reason of his commission not otherwise than according to the words comprised therein, and after the true intent thereof.
