Thomas Ruknam of Cullesdon, yeoman, to Sir Richard Carewe knight. Indenture of sale for 50l. (of which he acknowledges receipt of 7l. 10s.) of all the lands, terms etc. in Cullesdon, Chepstede and Wodmersthorne co. Surrey late of his father Henry Ruknam, whereof those held for term of years are of the lease and demise of one John Harmannesworth late abbot of Chertesey by the assent of the convent dated the vigil of St. John Baptist, 23 Henry VI; the lands to be recovered before the Ascension next, against Thomas and his co-feoffees seised to his use, by Richard Marland and Henry Saunders gentlemen, John Waker and Thomas Basset yeoman, their heirs and assigns, and the terms to be granted to the same persons, their executors and assigns, to the use and intent following: if Thomas Ruknam before Christmas next pay Sir Richard 7l. 10s. plus costs of recovery etc. out of his own goods without collusion or fraud, the premises shall be held to the use of Thomas; otherwise they shall be held to the use of Sir Richard, who shall then pay Thomas the residue of the 50l. within 2 years; premises thereupon to be discharged and evidences delivered within 8 weeks of Christmas next; for performance of which conditions Thomas is bound to Sir Richard in 100l. by bond of even date.
