PRAYERS.

Sherley versus Sir J. Fagg.

A Petition was presented to the House, from Thomas Sherley, to desire a Day for hearing the Cause depending in this House the last Session, between him and Sir John Fagg, which is now sine Dic.

But, in regard some Matter in His Majesty's Speech on the 13th Day of October Instant will concern this Petition, the House appointed His Majesty's Speech to be first read, according to the Order of the 14th of October Instant.

King's Speech considered.

Then His Majesty's and the Lord Keeper's Speech were read throughout.

And afterwards the First Paragraph was read, being the Causes of the last Prorogation:

"As I, for My Part, do not desire to remember, so I hope no Man else will, unless it be to learn from thence how to avoid the like Occasions for the future; and I pray consider how fatal the Consequences may be, and how little Benefit is like to redound to the People by it: However, if any Thing of that Kind shall arise, I desire you would defer those Debates, till you have brought such Public Bills to Perfection as may conduce to the Good and Safety of the Kingdom."

And, after a long Debate,

It is ORDERED, That this Debate be adjourned till To-morrow Morning, at Ten of the Clock; and nothing to intervene.

Lords took the Oaths.

This Day Prince Rupert Duke of Cumberland, William Earl of Craven, and Thomas Lord Butler of Moore Park, took the Oaths of Supremacy and Allegiance, and subscribed the Declaration against Transubstantiation, pursuant to the Act for preventing the Dangers which may happen from Popish Recusants; their Witnesses being first sworn at the Bar, and examined by the Lord Keeper, as to the Truth of their respective Certificates concerning their receiving the Sacrament of the LORD'S Supper.

Adjourn.
