House to be cleared when the King is present.

This House taking Notice of the great Disorders and Inconveniencies which have sundry Times of late happened in this Place, by Reason of the great Numbers of People coming into, and remaining within the Doors thereof, at such Times as His Majesty hath appointed to come publicly to this House, to speak to both Houses of Parliament, or give His Royal Assent to Bills; by reason whereof the Lords have been so crowded, that they have not had Room to come to, or abide in, their Places in the said House; which hath been to the great Disturbance of such solemn Meetings:

It is this Day therefore ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, for Prevention of the like Disorders and Inconveniencies for the future, That the Lord Great Chamberlain of England be (and his Lordship is hereby) desired to take Care and give strict Order for the keeping shut of all the Doors belonging to the House of Peers, at all such solemn Times, so that no Person whatsoever, except the Members of this House and their Assistants, and the Eldest Sons of Noblemen, and the Officers and Attendants of and belonging to the said House, be suffered to come into, and remain within, the Doors thereof.
