Ordered, That the Thanks of this House be, and they are hereby, given to the Lord Bishop of Bangor, for the Sermon by him preached before this House, Yesterday, in the Abbey Church, Westminster; and he is hereby desired to cause the same to be printed and published.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to indemnify Persons who have omitted to qualify themselves for Offices, Employments, and Promotions, within the Time limited by Law; and allowing further Time for that Purpose;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Bankrupt Laws to amend, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Daniel Lambert and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for amending the Laws relating to Bankrupts;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bills were both read the First Time.

Ordered, That the last mentioned Bill be printed.

State of the Nation to be considered.

The Order of the Day being read, for taking into Consideration the State of the Nation:

Motion for an Address against sending any British Troops beyond Sea, in the present Situation of Affairs.

It was moved, "To resolve, That an humble Address be presented to His Majesty, to represent to His Majesty, that, at this Time of extreme Danger, when His Majesty's Efforts for the common Cause of Europe, though exerted to the utmost that His People are able to bear, have proved unsuccessful, and when the immediate Defence of this Kingdom is become a most serious and most important Consideration; it is the humble Opinion and Advice of this House, and this House doth beseech His Majesty, that He will be graciously pleased to defer sending any of His British Troops beyond the Seas, till such Time as the Safety, Peace, and Tranquillity, of this Kingdom shall be more effectually secured."

Which being objected to;

The Question was put, upon the said Motion.

And it was Resolved in the Negative.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for better securing the Payment of such Shares of Prizes taken from the Enemy as are granted to the Royal Hospital at Greenwich; and for granting to the said Hospital the Shares of Run Men in all Prizes taken from the Spaniards; and for the Coinage of Prize Gold and Silver;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the same be printed.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for amending the Laws relating to Bankrupts."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Tuesday next.

Episcopal Ministers in Scotland to qualify themselves, Bill.

The Duke of Argyll presented to the House a Bill, intituled, "An Act more effectually to prohibit and prevent Pastors and Ministers from officiating in Episcopal Meeting-houses in Scotland, without duly qualifying themselves according to Law; and to punish Persons for resorting to any Meeting-houses where such unqualified Pastors or Ministers shall officiate."

And the same was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be printed.

Bankrupt Laws to amend, Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for amending the Laws relating to Bankrupts.

And the Question being put, "Whether the same shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. that the Lords have agreed to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Sawyer and Mr. Montagu:

To acquaint them, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Which were read by the Clerk; and are as follow; (videlicet,)

"Press 8. Line 16, Leave out ["hereafter"], and insert ["after the said First Day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-six"].

"Press 9. Line 3. Leave out, ["from henceforth"]; and in the same Line, after ["Attorney"], insert ["from and after the said First Day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-six, to be"].

"Press 13, Line ult. and 1st Line of the 14th Press, leave out ["His Majesty's Warehouses at such Port, or"].

"Press 14. L. 2 and 3. Leave out ["Commissioners"], and insert ["Officers"]; and in the Third Line, after ["Customs"], insert ["at the Expence of the Captors"].

"Press 23. Line 38. Leave out from ["brought"], to the End of the Bill.

"In the Title of the Bill, Line 6. Leave out from ["Spaniards"] to the End of the Title."

The said Amendments, being read a 2d Time, were severally agreed to by the House; except that in the Second and Third Lines, which was disagreed to.
