Peeresses, Peers Widows, Privilege.

Upon reading this Day in the House the Order made on the Seventh of May, 1675, whereby it was referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges, to examine what hath been done in Case of Privilege of Parliament allowed to Noblewomen and Widows of Peers, who were to make Report thereof unto the House; and also the Order of the First of June, 1675, whereby the Privilege of Parliament is taken from Noblewomen and Widows of Peers until the said Committee shall make the said Report:

It is this Day ORDERED, That the said Order of the First of June, 1675, be, and is hereby, set aside; and the Lords Committees for Privileges are hereby appointed to meet on Monday next, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, to consider of the Matter so referred to them by the said Order of the 7th of May, 1675, in order to their making a Report thereof unto the House within convenient Time: And that in the mean Time, the Privilege belonging to Noblewomen and Widows of Peers shall remain as it was before the making of the said Order of the First of June, 1675.

Scotch and Irish Nobility, using Coronets, &c. on their Coaches.

The House being moved, "That Notice may be taken of such Persons who, not being Peers of this Realm, use the Coronets, Titles, or other Ensigns, proper to the Peers only; and likewise that whereas the King's Majesty hath been pleased, by His Letters Patents, to grant that the Barons of England have and may wear and use Coronets upon their Coaches, which are likewise used by the Barons of the respective Kingdoms of Scotland and Ireland:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That it be, and is hereby, referred to the Earl Marshal of England, or his Deputy, to examine the aforesaid Matters of Fact taken Notice of, (videlicet,) who those Persons are who so assume the Coronets, Titles, and other Ensigns, proper to Peers only, and by what Authority the Barons of Scotland and Ireland do wear and use Coronets, and make Report thereof unto this House.

Bill for further securing the Protestant Religion.

The House was adjourned into a Committee, to proceed in the Bill for further securing the Protestant Religion.

The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgwater reported, "That the Committee have gone through the said Bill; but his Lordship desired the House would give him Leave to make the Report To-morrow Morning, in regard he had many Particulars to look over."

Which the House ordered accordingly; and after that Report made, this House will take into Consideration the Bill for the more effectual Conviction and Prosecution of Popish Recusants.
