Ly Leigh versus Ld. Leigh.

Upon reading the Petition of Dame Elizabeth Leigh, Wife to Thomas Lord Leigh, Baron of Stoneleigh, complaining of her rigorous Usage by her said Husband, against whom (as in the Petition is alledged) she can have no Remedy in any other Court of Judicature, by reason of the Privilege of the said Lord Leigh her Husband:

After due Consideration had of the Contents of the said Petition; and also after hearing the said Lord Leigh, in this House, declare, "That he will not insist upon his Privilege, to stay the Proceedings which may be had in other Courts in the Case set forth in the said Petition;" it is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition of Dame Elizabeth Leigh be, and is hereby, dismissed.

Bill against incestuous Marriages.

ORDERED, That the Committee for the Bill against incestuous Marriages do proceed upon that Part of the Bill which is concerning incestuous Marriages; and for the other Part which is against unlawful Marriages, the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas is appointed to prepare and draw a distinct Bill for that Particular, and present the same to this House as soon as he can.

Bill for more effectual Conviction of Popish Recusants.

The House was adjourned into a Committee, to proceed in the Bill for the more effectual Conviction and Prosecution of Popish Recusants.

The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgwater reported, "That the Committee hath gone through the said Bill, and have made many Amendments and Alterations therein; but are not yet ready to make a general Report, in regard the Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas is appointed to word Three Clauses against the next Sitting of the Committee, which the House is desired to appoint."

Hereupon the House ORDERED, That the House be put into a Committee To-morrow Morning for that Purpose.

Adjourn.
