PRAYERS.

Bp. of Bangor takes the Oaths.

This Day Humphrey Lord Bishop of Bangor took the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, and made and subscribed the Declaration, in Pursuance of the Act for the more effectual preserving of the King's Person and Government, by disabling Papists from sitting in either House of Parliament.

Cooling versus Stratfold, in Error.

Upon reading the Petition of Samuell Stratfold; shewing, "That having obtained a Verdict and Judgement against Joseph Cooling Esquire, Marshal of the King's Bench, which Judgement is brought into this Court by Writ of Error; upon which, Errors being assigned, and Issue joined, several Days have been appointed to hear the said Errors argued; which, by the Allegations and Petitions of the said Joseph Cooling, have been delayed, when the now Petitioner attended with Counsel; and therefore praying, that a short Day may be appointed for that Purpose:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel, at the Bar, on both Parts, to argue the said Errors, on Friday the 25th Day of this Instant April, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the said Samuell Stratfold is to cause timely Notice to be given to the said Joseph Cooling for that Purpose.

Nox to be attached, for tampering with Witnesses about the Plot.

Upon Report made from the Lords Committees for examining Matters relating to the Discovery of the late horrid Conspiracy, "That Thomas Nox is a dangerous Person, who hath endeavoured to tamper with, and corrupt, Witnesses relating to the said Discovery:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputy or Deputies, shall forthwith attach the Body of the said Thomas Nox, and deliver him into the Prison of The Gatehouse at Westminster, there to remain in safe Custody till further Order; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To Sir Geo. Charnock Knight, Serjeant at Arms attending this House, and to the Keeper of the said Prison of The Gatehouse, and their respective Deputies; as also to all His Majesty's Officers Civil and Military, to be aiding and assisting in the Execution hereof.

Thompson to be continued, Prisoner in The Gatehouse.

Upon Report made from the Lords Committees for examining Matters relating to the Discovery of the late horrid Conspiracy, "That their Lordships have examined Andrew Thomson, now Prisoner in The Gatehouse at Westm.; and judge it fit that he be continued there, and be kept a close Prisoner for some Time:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Andrew Thomson be continued a Prisoner in The Gatehouse till further Order, and be kept there under close Restraint for One Week from the Date hereof; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To the Keeper of the Prison of The Gatehouse at Westm. his Deputy and Deputies, and every of them.

A blank Warrant for seizing Persons and Papers concerning the Plot.

The House being moved, "That a Blank Warrant be issued, and signed by the Clerk of the Parliaments, for searching for and seizing some Persons; and that the Lords Committees for examining Matters relating to the Discovery of the late horrid Conspiracy may be intrusted to insert the Places and Persons to be searched and seized, as also the Names of the Persons who shall execute the same, to prevent the defeating of the intended Service:"

Upon Consideration had thereof, it is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That such a Warrant shall be issued as is desired, so as the Search to be made be not in the House of any Member of either House of Parliament: Which the said Lords Committees are to take special Care of.

Warcup, Address for his Preferment, for his Services concerning the Discovery of the Plot.

Upon Report made from the Lords Committees appointed to receive Informations tending to the Discovery of the late horrid Conspiracy, "That Edmond Warcupp Esquire, One of His Majesty's Justices of Peace and Deputy Lieutenants for the County of Midd. and City and Liberties of Westm. hath diligently executed the several Orders and Commands of this House, and of the said Committee, with no less Care and Prudence than Hazard and Charge; and that his Services have been so successful and eminent, for the Safety of His Majesty's Royal Person and Government, as that they deserve a particular Regard:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords with White Staves do attend His Majesty, with the humble Desire of this House, "That His Majesty will be graciously pleased to confer upon the said Edmond Warcup some such considerable Employment, as may be suitable to His Majesty's Royal Bounty, and the Merits and Services of the said Edmond Warcup."

Address for Money to the Committee, to reward Discoverers of the Plot.

Upon Report made from the Lords Committees for examining Matters relating to the Discovery of the late horrid Conspiracy, "That their Lordships have disposed of the One Hundred Pounds, which, by His Majesty's Gracious Order, was paid to the Clerk attending them, for Encouragements and Rewards to several poor People, who have been serviceable in order to the Discovery of the said Conspiracy; which hath not proved sufficient in a competent Measure to reward all that have deserved due Encouragement; and therefore desire that One Hundred Pounds more may be entrusted to their Lordships Disposal, which they judge may be sufficient for the Purposes aforesaid:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Earl of Essex do attend His Majesty, humbly to desire Him, from this House, That His Majesty will be graciously pleased to give Order that One Hundred Pounds more may be paid out of His Majesty's Treasury in the Exchequer, without Fees, into the Hands of the said Clerk, to be thence issued to such Persons, and in such Proportions, as the said Lords Committees shall think fit.

Lewis, a Priest, convicted at Monmouth, to be brought to Newgate.

Upon Report made from the Lords Committees for examining Matters relating to the Discovery of the late horrid Conspiracy, "That their Lordships find it requisite that David Lewis, who hath been tried and condemned as a Popish Priest at the Assizes held for the County of Monmouth, and is now in the Gaol there, may be brought to Town:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Sheriff for the said County of Monmouth be, and is hereby, required to take Care and give Order for the speedy conveying of the said David Lewis in Safety from the said Gaol, to be delivered into the Prison of Newgate; the Charges of which Service shall be allowed to the said Sheriff upon his Accompt in the Exchequer; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To the Sheriff of the County of Monmouth, and the Keeper of the Gaol of the said County, and all other Persons concerned therein.

Hanslip, Kemble, and Johnson, to be brought to Newgate.

The like Order for Roger Hanslip in the Gaol at Gloucester.

The like Order for John Kemble, in the Gaol at Hereford.

The like Order for Francis Johnson, alias Webb, in the Gaol of Worcester.

Allowance to Sheriffs, for their Charges in relation to the Plot.

It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That it be, and is hereby, recommended to the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury for the Time being, that, by their Order, Allowances may be made to the respective Sheriffs of the Counties of England, of such Sums of Money as they or any of them shall make appear to have been by them respectively disbursed, either as Rewards to Discoverers of Popish Priests, or for bringing up Prisoners to London or Westm. by Order of this House, or for any other Service relating to the Discovery of the late horrid Conspiracy.

All Persons having Licenses to Pay in Town, are to give in their Names to Cler. Parl.

It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That all such Persons who have obtained Leave, either from His Majesty's Privy Council or from this House, to come and stay in the Cities of London and Westminster, or either of them, be, and they are hereby, respectively required to bring in their own Names, as also the Names of their respective Servants, or others in their Families, so licensed to stay in Town, to the Clerk of the Parliaments, on or before Monday the Twenty-eight Day of this Instant April; or otherwise the Licenses of such of them as shall make Default thereof are hereby declared after the said Day to be void: And it is further ORDERED, That this Order be forthwith printed and published, to the End that all Persons concerned may take Notice thereof, at their Perils.

King's Answer to the Address concerning paving Streets.

The Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That himself and the Lord Viscount Fauconberg have attended His Majesty, with the Address of this House, for the immediate Repair of such Places and Ways as are to be paved at His Majesty's Charge: And His Majesty returns this Answer, That He will take Care of the paving of the Streets that are under His Charge."

Liberty of the Subject, Habeas Corpus Bill.

ORDERED, That on Friday next the House be put into a Committee, to consider of the Bill for the better securing the Liberty of the Subject.

Trial of Peers Bill.

ORDERED, That this House be presently put into a Committee, to consider of the Bill for the better regulating the Trial of the Peers of England.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure.

The House being resumed;

The Earl of Huntingdon reported, "That the Committee of the House have made some Progress in the Bill for the Trial of the Peers; and the Committee desires that the House might be in a Committee again on Saturday next, to proceed therein."

Which the House ordered accordingly.

Sir Thomas Haggeston, Leave to stay in Town.

This House being moved, "That Sir Thomas Haggeston may have Leave to come and make some Stay in Town, to attend a Business of great Importance to him:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Sir Thomas Haggeston, with Two Servants, (videlicet,) Roger Thomson and Laurance Shillingworth, be, and is hereby, authorised and permitted to come to, and abide in, the Cities of London and Westminster, or either of them, for the Space of One Month next after his coming to Town, for the Cause aforesaid, but no longer.
