Dodington versus Williams.
Upon hearing Counsel this Day at the Bar, upon the Petition and Appeal of Hester Dodington, the Widow of John Dodington Esquire, and George Dodington her Son, being an Appeal from a Decree made on the Sixteenth Day of November; 1677, in the Court of Chancery, on the Behalf of Abraham Williams, concerning the M nor of Dodington in the County of Somerset; as also upon the Answer of the said Abraham Williams put in thereunto:
After due Consideration had of what was offered on either Part thereupon, it is ORDERED and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Decree made in the Court of Chancery, from which the Petitioner doth appeal, be, and is hereby, confirmed, and the Appeal aforesaid dismissed this House.
Appeals, Security to be given here to pay Costs; and not in the Courts below.
ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That in all Cases of Appeals to be brought into this House from the Courts in Westminster Hall, the Party or Parties Appellant shall, before any Answer be put in to his or their Petition, give Security to the Clerk of the Parliament, by Recognizance, to be entered into to His Majesty, in One Hundred Pounds, to pay such Costs to the Defendant or Defendants in such Appeals as this Court shall appoint in Case the Decree or Judgement appealed from shall be affirmed by this Court: And it is further ORDERED, That the Order of this House of the Tenth Day of December, 1678, relating to Security to be given in the Court from whence the Decree or Judgement is appealed from, for Performance of such Decree or Judgement, be, and is hereby, repealed.
Two Counsel to sign Appeals and Petitions; and no more than Three on a Side to be heard at the Bar.
ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That no Petition of Appeal, from any Decree in Equity, be henceforth presented to this House, unless the same be subscribed by Two known Practisers at Law, as well as by the Petitioners; and that in all Cases wherein the House shall think fit and appoint to hear Counsel at the Bar, no Person whatsoever concerned to be heard on either Side, shall retain above Three Counsellors to open or speak in his Cause at One Time of appearing at the Bar of this House for the future.

The Lord Chamberlain reported, "That His Majesty will give Order for a Pardon for Zeale; and hath given Directions for Lists to be made of the Officers and Commanders by Land and Sea."
Report, concerning L L. Stafford's Treatment in The Tower.
The Lord Howard gave the House an Account of his going to the Lord Viscount Stafford in The Tower: And he cannot find that the Lieutenant of The Tower hath been guilty of any Incivility to the Lord Viscount Stafford; only sent One of the King's Surgeons to him, as is usual.
Marq. Dorchester excused.
This Day William Colgrave and Charles Pelham declared, upon their Oaths, at the Bar, the Marquis of Dorchester is so ill disposed in his Health, that he is not able to attend this House without Danger of his Life.
Upon this, the House excused his Absence.
Committee to inspect Laws against Papists, &c.
Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Statutes against Papists for Recusancy; and what Cases there are of present Pressure against others that are not Papists; and to consider of proper Remedies for the Parties under Pressure; and to look carefully that Papists have no Advantage thereby, and report to the House.
Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Monday next, at Eight of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers.
Bickly to attend.
Upon Report made from the Lords Committees for Examination of Matters relating to the Discovery of the late horrid Plot and Conspiracy, "That their Lordships are of Opinion, That Captain Thomas Bickley should be put out of all Public Employments:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Thomas Bickley be, and is hereby, required to appear at the Bar of this House on Tuesday next, being the 23th of this Instant November, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon; and hereof he may not fail.
L. Stourton, Leave to visit L. Petre.
ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Stourton hath hereby Leave given him, for One Time, to visit the Lord Petre, now Prisoner in The Tower.
Fitzgerald, Leave to print his own Information.
This House being moved, "That David Fitzgerald Esquire may have Leave to print his Information given to this House, concerning the horrid Plot and Conspiracy of the Papists in Ireland:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said David Fitzgerald hath hereby Leave given him to print and publish the said Information.

List of Lords Lieutenants delivered in.
The Earl of Sunderland delivered in, by Order of His Majesty, a List of the Lords Lieutenants of the several Counties; and said, "That he hath written for the Names of all the Deputy Lieutenants and Officers of the Militia."
