Lord Keeper indisposed.

The House being informed, "That the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England was indisposed; His Majesty had sent a Commission, constituting the Marquis of Normanby Speaker."

Which Commission was read, as followeth; (videlicet,)

"William and Mary, by the Grace of GOD, King and Queen of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland, Defenders of the Faith, &c. To Our Right Trusty and Right Well-beloved Cousin and Counsellor John Marquis of Normanby, Greeting: Whereas Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Counsellor Sir John Sommers Knight, Lord Keeper of Our Great Seal of England, is at present so indisposed, that he is not able to attend in the Upper House of this Our present Parliament now holden at Westminster, nor there to supply the Room and Place in the said Upper House, amongst the Lords Spiritual and Temporal there assembled, as to the Office of the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England hath been accustomed: We, minding the same Place and Room to be supplied in all Things as appertaineth, for and during his Absence as aforesaid, have named and appointed you, and by these Presents do name, constitute, appoint, and authorize you, during such his said Absence from his accustomed Place in the said Upper House, to occupy, use, and supply, the said Room and Place of the said Lord Keeper, in the said Upper House, amongst the Lords Spiritual and Temporal there assembled, during such his said Absence; and then and there, at every such Time, to do and execute all such Things as the said Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England should or might do, if he were there personally present, using and supplying the same Room. Wherefore We will and command you the said Marquis of Normanby to attend to the Doing and Execution of the Premises with Effect; and these Our Letters Patents shall be your sufficient Warrant and Discharge for the same in every respect. In Witness whereof, We have caused these Our Letters to be made Patents.

"Witness Ourselves, at Westminster, the Six and Twentieth Day of November, in the Sixth Year of Our Reign.

"Per ipsum Regem, propria Manu signat.

Then his Lordship took the Place, of Speaker, on the Woolsack.

Phillips versus Bury, in Error.

Upon reading the humble Petition of Arthur Bury, Doctor in Divinity, Rector of Exeter Colledge, in the University of Oxford; praying longer Time for his joining Issue upon the Writ of Error depending in this House, wherein Robert Phillips is Plaintiff, and the Petitioner Defendant:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Arthur Bury hath hereby further Time allowed him, for joining Issue as desired, until Friday the Thirtieth Day of this Instant November, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
