Committee to prepare an Address on the Queen's Death:
The House being moved, "That an Address be made
to His Majesty, to condole the Loss of the most Excellent Queen; and to desire Him to take Care of His
Person; and to assure Him also, that this House will
assist Him against all His Enemies, both at Home and
Whereupon the Lords following were appointed a
Committee, to draw an Address accordingly:
The House was adjourned during Pleasure; and the
Lords withdrew, to draw an Address.
And, after some Time spent therein, the House was
And the Duke of Bolton reported from the Committee the Address following; (videlicet,)
"We, Your Majesty's most dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament
assembled, do, with inexpressible Grief, humbly
assure Your Majesty of the deep Sense we have of
the Loss Your Majesty and the whole Kingdom do
sustain, by the Death of that Excellent Princess, our
Sovereign Lady the Queen; most humbly beseeching
Your Majesty, that You would not indulge Your
Grief, upon this sad Occasion, to the Prejudice of the
Health of Your Royal Person; in whose Preservation,
not only the Welfare of Your own Subjects, but of
all Christendom, is so nearly concerned.
"We farther beg Leave, upon this sad Occasion,
humbly to renew to Your Majesty, the hearty and
sincere Assurances of our utmost Assistance against all
Your Enemies both at Home and Abroad, and of all
other Demonstrations of the greatest Duty and Affection that can possibly be paid by the most faithful
Lords to know when the King will be attended with it.
To which the House agreed:
And ORDERED, That the Lords with White Staves
do attend His Majesty, humbly to know His Majesty's
Pleasure, when this House may attend him with the
Dominus Custos Magni Sigilli declaravit præsens Parliamentum continuandum esse usque ad et in diem Sabbati, (videlicet,) vicesimum nonum diem instantis Decembris, hora undecima Aurora, Dominis sic decernentibus.
