Whitaker versus Pawlin & al.

Upon hearing Counsel this Day, at the Bar, upon the Petition and Appeal of Edward Whitaker Gentleman, complaining of an Order of the Court of Chancery, made the Seventh Day of November, One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-four, in a Cause there depending, wherein the Petitioner was Plaintiff, and William Paulin and William Loggin Defendants; and praying, "that a Report made by a Master in the Court of Chancery, of the Eleventh Day of February, One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-one, may be confirmed," as also upon the Answer of the said William Paulin and William Loggin put in thereunto:

Judgement affirmed.

After due Consideration of what was offered by Counsel thereupon, it is this Day ORDERED and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal of Edward Whitaker shall be, and is hereby, dismissed this House: And it is further ORDERED, that the said Edward Whitaker shall pay, or cause to be paid, unto the said William Paulin and William Loggin, the Sum of Twenty Pounds for their Costs.

Report of the Conference on the Bill for regulating the Silver Coinage:

The Earl of Rochester reported the Conference had Yesterday with the House of Commons, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the regulating the Coinage of the Silver Money of this Kingdom: That they had agreed to some of the Lords Amendments; and hope the Lords will agree with them, for their Reasons given at the Conference."

And the particular Amendments, to which they have agreed or disagreed, were reported.

Lords will vindicate the Right of this House, to inflict Pecuniary Penalties.

After Debate concerning what was offered by the House of Commons, at the Close of the Conference Yesterday:

Resolved, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That, before the Lords shall have quite gone through the Amendments to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the regulating the Coinage of the Silver Money of this Kingdom," they will vindicate the Rights of this House, in relation to what was delivered at the Close of the last Conference.

It being proposed, "To proceed now upon the Amendments:"

This Question was put, "Whether the House shall be now adjourned?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Adjourn.
