This Day John Earl of Bristoll took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statutes; and subscribed the Association.

Dutchess of Buccleugh's Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for empowering the most Noble Anne Dutchess of Buccleuch, and the Right Honourable James Earl of Dalkeith her Son, of the Kingdom of Scotland, to grant Leases, for improving a Piece of Ground, in the Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields, in the County of Midd'x."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Holford and Mr. Pitts:

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Northern Borders Bill.

Ecclesiastical Courts, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the better regulating Ecclesiastical Courts."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be referred to a Committee of the whole House, To-morrow, at Twelve of the Clock.

Qu..kers Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act that the solemn Affirmation and Declaration of the People called Quakers shall be accepted instead of an Oath."

Elections, to prevent A buses of Returning Officers at; Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the further regulating Elections of Members to serve in Parliament; and for the preventing irregular Proceedings of Sheriffs and other Officers in the electing and returning such Members."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, presently.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee thereupon.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Herbert of Chirbury reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill, with some Amendments."

Which, being read Twice, were agreed to.

ORDERED, That the said Bill be re-committed.

Then the House was again adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the said Bill.

And being resumed;

The Lord Herbert of Chirbury reported, "That the Committee had made some other Amendments, upon the Re-commitment of the Bill."

Which, being read Twice, were agreed to.

Norfolk Highways Bill.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Bill, intituled, "An Act for repairing the Highways between Wymondham and Attleborough, in the County of Norfolke," shall be committed to the same Committee as the Bill to prevent Theft and Rapine on the Northern Borders is committed.

Upon reading a Letter from the Lord Viscount Weymouth, desiring to be excused:

Ld. Weymouth, Letter to him to attend; or, if prevented by Illness, to sign the enclosed Association:

The Letter following was ordered to be sent to his Lordship; (videlicet,)

"My Lord,

"Your Lordship's Answer to the Letter sent to your Lordship by Order of the most Honourable House of Peers was read in the House this Day: And the House being of Opinion, that your Lordship had not complied with the Directions of the former Letter; I am commanded, by their Lordships, to let you know, that your Attendance is required (all Excuses set apart) on Tuesday the One and Thirtieth Day of this Instant March; and, in case of Sickness which absolutely disables you, that then you send up Two Persons to attest the same upon Oath: And I am also commanded to send to your Lordship the enclosed Copy of the Association agreed to by the House; and in case you shall be disabled, as aforesaid, to attend in Person; the House does expect an Answer from your Lordship, in Writing, whether you will sign the said Association or not; which Answer is also to be returned on or before the Day above appointed."

Letters to the E. of Derby and L. Lempster, to the same Effect.

The Letter following was ordered to be sent to the Earl of Derby and the Lord Lempster.

"My Lord,

"Your Lordship not having returned any Answer to the Letter sent to your Lordship by Order of the most Honourable House of Peers; I am commanded, by the House, to let you know, that your Attendance is required (all Excuses set apart) on Tuesday the One and Thirtieth Day of this Instant March; and in case of Sickness which absolutely disables you, that then you send Two Persons to attest the same upon Oath: And I am also commanded to send to your Lordship the enclosed Copy of the Association agreed to by the House; and in case you shall be disabled as aforesaid to attend in Person, the House does expect an Answer from your Lordship, in Writing, whether you will sign the said Association or not; which Answer is also to be returned on or before the Day above appointed."
