Militia Bill.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for raising the Militia of the Kingdom for the Year One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-six, although the Month's Pay formerly advanced be not re-paid."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Mutiny Bill.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for continuing several former Acts for punishing Officers and Soldiers, who shall mutiny, or desert His Majesty's Service, and for punishing false Musters, and for Payment of Quarters for One Year longer."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with Amendments to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Robert Legard and Sir Miles Cooke:

To return the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence to the Amendments.

Jones versus Shakerley.

Counsel being this Day called in, upon the Petition of Hugh Jones junior, and the Answer of Sir Jeffrey Shakerley put in thereunto:

The Counsel for the Respondent objected, "That, Hugh Jones Senior being dead, there wanted proper Parties:"

Whereupon, the Counsel being withdrawn, it is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Monday the Thirtieth Day of this Instant March, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; and that, in the mean Time, the Appellant may take out Letters of Administration, to answer the Objection abovesaid.

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Littleton and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty several Rates or Duties upon Houses, for making good the Deficiency of the clipped Money;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Message from thence, to return Stretton and Princethorpe Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bromley and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making the Towns of Stretton and Princethorpe a separate Parish from Woolston, in the County of Warwick;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to their Lordships Amendments.

Plantation Trade, to prevent Frauds in, &c. Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure; and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for preventing Frauds and regulating Abuses in the Plantation Trade."

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Bishop of Salisbury reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress in the Bill; and desire another Day may be appointed, for them to proceed therein; and the Judges to attend."

Laws in Force relative to the Plantation Trade, who then they interfere with each other.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Chief Justice of the Court of King's Bench do attend this House on Thursday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, to give the House an Account of the several Laws now in Force concerning the Plantation Trade, and whether those Laws interfere one with the other; and how they consist with the Clauses herewith sent, in the Bill for preventing Frauds and regulating Abuses in the Plantation Trade.
