Lawyers to take the Oaths, Bill:

vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act requiring the Practisers of Law to take the Oaths, and
subscribe the Declaration, therein mentioned."
The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall
pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Message to H. C. that the Lords agree to it.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
Sir Miles Cook and Sir John Hoskyns:
To let the Commons know, the Lords have agreed
to the said Bill, without any Amendment.
India Silks and Callicoes, Bill to prohibit the Wearing of.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put
into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act
for restraining the Wearing of all Wrought Silks,
Bengalls, and Dyed, Printed, or Stained Callicoes,
imported into the Kingdom of England, of the Product and Manufacture of Persia and The East Indies."
After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.
And the Earl of Manchester reported, "That the
Committee had heard several Counsel, for and against
the Bill."
After Debate;
ORDERED, That the House shall be put into a Committee again on the said Bill, on Thursday next, at
Eleven of the Clock.
Counsel and Witnesses to be heard concerning it:
The Question was put, "Whether Counsel and
Witnesses shall be heard To-morrow, upon
the Subject-matter of this Bill?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Protest against hearing them, after the Bill has been committed to a Committee of the whole House.
"Leave having been asked, and given, for any Lords
to dissent, if the Question was carried in the Affirmative; we, whose Names are underwritten, do dissent, for the Reasons following; (videlicet,)
"1. Because it was never known, that where a Bill
was once referred to a Committee of the whole
House, that the House did hear Counsel and examine Witnesses to any Part of the Bill so committed,
or when that Committee was still subsisting.
"2. Because, we conceive, such Proceedings may occasion severe Reflections upon the Honour of this
House; and may be of fatal Consequence, by inverting the Laws and Customs of Parliaments, upon
which our Constitution depends.

After hearing this Day Counsel, and Witnesses in a
Committee of the whole House, for and against the
Bill, intituled, "An Act for restraining the Wearing of

Stained Callicoes imported into the Kingdom of England, of the Product and Manufacture of Persia and
The East Indies:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That To-morrow, at
Eleven of the Clock this House, will hear Witnesses, and
One Counsel on a Side; and that only of those who
appeared this Day for and against the said Bill.
Honour of Tutbury, Needwood Forest, &c. for revesting in the King, Bill.
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That the House shall be put
into a Committee, to proceed on the Bill, intituled, "An
Act for re-vesting in His Majesty the Honour of Tutbury, Forest of Needwood, several Manors, Parks,
Lands, Offices, and other Profits thereunto belonging, and for vacating several Letters Patents therein
mentioned," on Monday next, the First Business; and
the Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench to attend.
