concerning Accompts.
Committee to consider of the Decay of Trade, &c. Ecclesiastical Affairs.
The Earl of Essex reported from the Committee appointed to consider of the Reasons and Grounds of the
Fall of Rents and Decay of Trade within this Kingdom,
"That the Opinion of that Committee is, That some Ease
and Relaxation in Ecclesiastical Matters will be a
Means of improving the Trade of this Kingdom."
L. Delawar's Fine for Absence excused.
ORDERED, That the Lord Delawar, giving his
Attendance on this House this Day, is excused from his
Fine of Forty Pounds, imposed upon him by this House
for his Absence.
The Earl of Essex is added to the Committee for the
Bill for preventing Fraud in exporting Wools, &c.
Committee to consider of the Decay of Trade, &c.
The Earl of Aylsbury and the Lord Delamer is added
to the Committee concerning Trade.
Next, the House proceeded in the Consideration of
the Report made from the Committee appointed to consider of the Reasons and Grounds of the Fall of Rents
and the Decay of Trade within this Kingdom.
Registers for Lands.
And the Second Part of the Report, concerning a
Bill of Registers for the future, was to be debated.
For that Purpose the whole House was adjourned
into a Committee.
The House was resumed.
The Earl of Essex reported, "That the Committee
of the whole House desire that any Lord may have
Leave to offer a Bill concerning Registers to the said
Committee, for their Debate; and that all the Judges
might be appointed to be present, to assist the said
Committee at the same Time, before the said Bill be
offered to this House."
Which was ordered accordingly.
Turnball, Beck, & al. released.
Whereas, by Order of this House, dated the Third
Day of this Instant December, the Serjeant at Arms
attending this House was required to take into his Custody the Bodies of Thomas Turnball, Arthur Beck, William Wooton, and Peter Playdon, Bailiffs, for arresting
the Lady Awdley, Wife of the Lord Awdley, a Peer
of this Realm, contrary to the Privilege of Peerage,
and pretending the Delivery of a Letter from the Earl
of Bridgwater, designing thereby to compass the said
Arrest; and the said Thomas Turnball hath at the Bar
acknowledged the said Offence, but alledged that it was
by the Contrivement of Thomas Langresh, at whose Suit
the Arrest was made, who hath likewise been in Custody,
and, upon his humble Submission to the House, to the
Earl of Bridgwater, and to the Lady Awdley, is discharged for the same:
It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal in Parliament assembled (at the Motion
of the Earl of Bridgwater on that Behalf), That the
said Thomas Turnball, Arthur Beck, William Wootton,
and Peter Playdon, be, and are hereby, discharged of
their present Restraint, paying their Fees: And this
shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.
