PRAYERS.

Commissioners for proroguing the Parliament.

The Lord Keeper acquainted the House, "That the King had granted a Commission under the Great Seal of England, to prorogue this Parliament until February next."

Hereupon the Archbishop of Cant. the Lord Keeper, Lord Steward, Lord Chamberlain of the Household, the Earl of Bridgwater, Earl of Essex, Lord Arlington, Lord Newport, and the Lord Ashley (Nine of the Commissioners), sitting upon a Form placed between the Chair of State and the Lord Keeper's Woolsack, without their Robes, the rest of the Lords being also without their Robes, the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod had Directions from the House, to acquaint the House of Commons, "That His Majesty hath granted a Commission for proroguing this Parliament; and the Lords desire the Presence of the House of Commons, to hear the said Commission read."

The House of Commons being come, with their Speaker; the Commission was read, as followeth:

Octavo die Maii, Anno Regni Nostri Tertio Decimo, inchoari & teneri ordinavimus, À quo die idem Parliamentum Nostrum per separales Prorogationes usque ad & in Primum diem Martii ultim. præterit. continuatum fuerat; eodemque die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad & in Decimum Nonum diem Octobris tunc proxime sequent. prorogatum fuerat, ibidem tunc tenendum & prosequendum; quo die idem Parliamentum Nostrum tùnc & ibidem tentum fuerat & adhuc tenetur: Sciatis tamen, quod, certis urgentibus Causis & Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum ulterius prorogandum duximus. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentiâ, & Circumspectione vestries plurimùm considentes, de Avisamento & Assensu Consilii Nostri, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros, dantes vobis, & aliquibus Tribus vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore præsentium, plenam Potestatem & Auctoritatem, hoc instante die Sabbati, ad præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, Nomine Nostro, ad & in Decimum Quartum diem Februarii jam proxime futuri, usque prædictam Civitatem Nostram Westm. prorogandum & continuandum, ibidemque tunc tenendum & prosequendum; & ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Formâ prædictâ effectualiter expleatis. Damus autem universis & singulis Archiepiscopis, Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Baronibus, Militibus, Civibus, & Burgensibus, ac omnibus aliis quorum interest ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, Tenore præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis in præmissis faciend. agend. & exequend. pareant, obedient, & intendant, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patentes.

Then the Lord Keeper said,

Parliament prorogued.

"By virtue of His Majesty's Commission, we do in His Majesty's Name prorogue the Parliament to the Fourteenth Day of February next. And this Parliament is prorogued to the Fourteenth Day of February next."
