PRAYERS.
The Lord Chancellor reported, "That the whole
House, on Saturday last waited upon His Majesty at
Whitehall, and presented the humble Address of this
House; and His Majesty was pleased to return this
Answer:
King's Answer reported.
"My Lords,
"I take this Address of yours very kindly; I will
always be very affectionate to you; and I expect you
shall stand by Me, as I will always by you."
King's Speech, and the Addresses of H.C. debated.
Then the House took into Consideration the whole
Matter of His Majesty's Speech on Saturday, and the
Three Papers which His Majesty acquainted this House
withal.
And all the said Papers, in their Order, were read.
And, after a long Debate,
The Question being put, "Whether this House
shall in the First Place enter into Consideration
of giving Advice to His Majesty?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
It is ORDERED, That this Business shall be taken
into Consideration To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the
Clock, the First Business.
ORDERED, That the Judge now in Town shall attend To-morrow Morning.
Cholmley et al. versus The Grocers Company et al.
Whereas there is a Petition and Appeal of Elizabeth
and Margaret Cholmley, by John Savill Esquire their
Guardian, Sarah Smith Widow, and Sir Kngsmill Lucy
Baronet, from a Decree and other Orders of the Court
of Chancery, in a Cause there depending, wherein the
said Petitioners are Plaintiffs, against the Wardens and
Commonalty of the Mystery of Grocers in the City of
London, Sir John Cutler, Sir Thomas Foote, Knights, Jeffery Howland, Thomas Gower Esq. and others, Defendants, now depending in this House, to which the
said Wardens and Commonalty and other the Defendants therein named were, by Order of this House,
dated the 20th Day of February last, required to put in
their Answer in Writing within Eight Days after Notice thereof:
Upon reading the Petition of the Wardens and Commonalty of the said Mystery or Company of Grocers this
Day; shewing, "That they must inspect several Books
and Papers, and that several of the Members are out
of Town who should be assistant to the putting in
an Answer to the said Petition, which consists of many
Particulars, in a Cause of very great Importance to
them, and therefore pray a longer Day for the same:"
It is thereupon ORDERED, That the said Wardens
and Commonalty, and other the Defendants in the said
Petition named, shall put in their Answer thereunto in
Writing, on Tuesday the Eleventh Day of March instant
peremptorily, at the Bar of this House; and hereof
they may not fail.
