Bill against Popish Recusants.
The Judges, according to the Direction Yesterday,
presented to this House the Draught of a Proviso to
exempt Inferior Officers in Civil Affairs from the Penalty of Five Hundred Pounds, &c. in the Bill against
Popish Recusants; which, being read Twice, was Agreed
to.
Message from the King, about a Recess.
The Lord Arlington acquainted the House, "That
he had a Message to deliver from His Majesty to
their Lordships." Which was read, as followeth:
"Charles R.
"His Majesty hath commanded me to acquaint this
House, that He intends a Recess on Thursday the
27th Instant; and therefore His Majesty would be
glad, that such Bills of Importance as can be prepared by that Time may then be ready for His
Royal Assent.
"At the Court at Whitehall, March 20th, 167&frac2/3;."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill,
with the Amendments and Provisos, shall
pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Message to H. C. with it.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by
the Lord Chief Justice Vaughan and Justice Windham:
To return to them the Bill for preventing the Dangers as may happen by Popish Recusants; and to let
them know, that this House agrees to the said Bill, with
some Amendments and Provisos added by their Lordships, to which the Concurrence of the House of Commons is desired.
Baron Turner is appointed to assist the Committee
for the Bill about Apprentices and Servants Wages,
To-morrow Morning.
