PRAYERS.

Bill to compose Differences in Religion.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for composing Differences in Religion, and inviting sober and peaceably-minded Dissenters into the Service of the Church."

ORDERED, That this Bill be read the Second Time on Thursday the 19th of this Instant February.

King will be attended with the Address.

The Lord Treasurer reported, "That he and the other Lords appointed have waited on His Majesty, to know what Time He would please to appoint for this House to present Him with their humble Thanks for His last Speech; and His Majesty hath appointed this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock, in the Banqueting House, for that Purpose."

Committee of Petitions to send for a Judge to assist them.

It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords Committees appointed to receive and consider of Petitions, be, and are hereby, empowered to send to such Judge as they shall think fit to name, to come and assist their Lordships from Time to Time, as oft as they shall fit upon the Business of Petitions, in the Painted Chamber.

Winckle versus Hodgskin.

Whereas there is a Petition of Richard Winckle, and Charity his Wife depending in this House, to which Ralph Hodgkin hath (according to Order) put in his Answer:

The House being moved, on the Behalf of the said Ralph Hodgkin, "That a Day may be appointed for Hearing thereupon;" it is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel at the Bar, on both Parts, upon the said Petition and Answer, on Monday the Three and Twentieth Day of this Instant February, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the said Ralph Hodgkin is to cause timely Notice [ (fn. 1) to be given] to the said Richard Winckle, or his Agent in the said Cause, to the End he may be ready at the Time aforesaid.

James, L. Delawar's Servant, arrested.

Upon Complaint made to this House, and the Oath of Richard Hill at the Bar, "That Christopher James, Servant to the Lord Delawar, a Peer of this Realm, was about Three Weeks since (sitting this Parliament) arrested, by Andrew Adams, Anthony Spittlc, John Taylor, John Thummon, and Christopher Cowlcy Senior, Bailiffs belonging to the Sheriff of the County of Southampton, who refused to discharge him, though they knew he was owned by the said Lord Delawarr in that Quality, but carried him to Prison:"

Adams, Spittle, & al. to be attached.

All which being contrary to the Privilege of Parliament, it is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputy, shall forthwith attach the Bodies of the said Andrew Adams, Anthony Spittle, John Taylor, John Thummon, and Christopher Cowley, and bring them in safe Custody to the Bar of this House to answer for their said Offences; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

Barret versus L. Lostus.

Whereas there is a Petition of Dacre Barret depending in this House, to which the Lord Viscount Lostus of the Kingdom of Ireland hath put in his Plea:

It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel at the Bar, on both Parts, upon the Petition and Plea, on Friday the Twentieth Day of this Instant February, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the Petitioner is to cause timely Notice to be given to the said Lord Viscount Lostus, or his Agent in the said Cause, to the End he may be ready at the Time aforesaid.

Ly. Read versus Sir John Read.

Upon hearing Counsel at the Bar of this House, for Dame Alisimon Read, upon her Petition depending in this House; also for Sir John Reade her Husband, complained of in the said Petition:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That on Friday the Twentieth Instant, this House will enter into Consideration of what hath been offered on either Part thereupon.

Bill for employing the Poor.

This House being moved, by the Lords Committees appointed to prepare a Bill for setting the Poor on Work, "That some One of the Judges may be named to assist their Lordships therein:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Justice Atkins be, and is hereby, appointed to assist their Lordships, in preparing the Bill for setting the Poor on Work; and that Sir John Baker Knight, and Edmond Warcup Esquire, Two Justices of the Peace for the Liberty of Westminster, do attend the said Judge at such Times as he shall appoint, with Heads or Proposals for that Purpose.

Adjourn.
