This Day Charles Earl of Midd. was introduced,
between the Earl of Manchester and the Earl of Mulgrave, in their Robes; the Lord Great Chamberlain,
the Earl of Suff. supplying the Place of the Earl
Marshal, and Garter King at Arms, going before.
After his Lordship had delivered his Patent and Writ
of Summons to the Lord Keeper, they were delivered
and read at the Table.
The Patent bears Date the Fourth Day of February,
in the 27 Year of King C'arles the Second; and the
Writ bears Date the 16th of April in the same Year.
Heads for securing the Protestant Religion.
This Day being appointed for the whole House to
be in a Committee, to consider of Heads for a Bill for
securing the Protestant Religion; the House was adjourned during Pleasure.
The House being resumed;
The Earl of North'ton reported to the House,
That the Committee have made a Progress in the
Consideration of Heads in order to a Bill for securing the Protestant Religion; and they have agreed
that One of the Heads shall be, That the Children
of the Royal Family may be educated in the Protestant Religion, as it is established in the Church
of England. And the Committee desires the House
would appoint another Time, when they shall further
Thereupon the House ORDERED, That this House
shall be put into a Committee for that Purpose on
Thursday Morning next.
Hallet versus Kendall.
Whereas this House had appointed to proceed in
hearing Counsel at the Bar, on Thursday next, the
22th Instant, in the Cause upon the Appeal of Mary
Hallet Widow, to which Thomas Kendall and Mary his
Wife are Defendants:
It is this Day ORDERED, That the said Hearing be,
and is hereby, put off to Friday the 23th Day of this
Instant April, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon;
whereof both Parties are to take Notice, and attend
with their Counsel accordingly.
