L. Carteret introduced.

George Lord Carteret was this Day introduced, between the Lord Grey of Ruthin and the Lord Delamer, in the usual Manner.

His Patent was read, dated the 19th Day of October, in the 33 Year of the Reign of King Charles the Second; and then was placed according (fn. 1) the Date of the said Patent.

Vote from H. C. that K. James has abdicated; and that the Throne is vacant.

Then the House was put into a Committee, to debate the Matter of the Vote brought from the House of Commons Yesterday.

The House being resumed;

The Earl of Danby reported, "That the Committee have made a further Proceeding in the Vote of the House of Commons, and considered the same in Paragraphs:

"The First was, That King James the Second having endeavoured to subvert the Constitution of the Kingdom, by breaking the original Contract between King and People.

"To which the Committee agrees, without any Amendm ent.

"The Second Paragraph: ["And, by the Advice of Jesuits and other wicked Persons, having violated the fundamental Laws"].

"To this the Committee have agreed.

"The Third Paragraph: ["And having withdrawn himself out of this Kingdom"].

"To this the Committee have agreed.

"To the Fourth Paragraph: ["has abdicated the Government"].

"The Committee have agreed, with this Alteration, instead of the Word ["abdicated"], to insert the Word ["deserted"]: And then it runs thus ["has deserted the Government"].

"The Paragraph which remains, "and that the Throne is thereby vacant"].

"The Committee have agreed to go on upon the Debate thereof To-morrow, at Three of the Clock in the Afternoon, if this House shall think fit."

To all which the House agreed.

Adjourn.
