Land Tax Bill.

The House was put into a Committee, to consider of the Bill for a Grant to Their Majesties, of an Aid of Twelve Pence in the Pound, for One Year, for the necessary Defence of Their Realms.

The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Stamford reported, "That the Committee hath been in Consideration of the Bill for a Grant of an Aid to Their Majesties; which they are of Opinion may be fit to pass, with a Proviso to be added."

Which Proviso, being read Twice, was put to the Question, "Whether this Proviso shall be added to the Bill?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.

Message from H. C. with Bathurst's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Jonathan Jennings and others:

Who returned a Bill to enable Theodore Bathurst to make a Jointure for his Wife, and to charge Monies on Part of his Estate in Yorkeshire; in which Bill the Commons have made some few Amendments, to which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

The Amendments were read Twice, and Agreed to.

Land Tax Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for a Grant to Their Majesties of an Aid of Twelve Pence in the Pound for One Year, for the necessary Defence of Their Realms."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass for a Law?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. that the Lords agree to it, and to the Amendments in Bathurst's Bill.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Mr. Metwin:

1. To acquaint them, that the Lords have passed the Bill for a Grant to Their Majesties of an Aid of Twelve Pence in the Pound, for One Year, for the necessary Defence of Their Realms.

2. To let them know, that the Lords agree to the Amendments in the Bill concerning Theodore Bathurst.

The House appointed these Lords following to report the Conference with the House of Commons:

Conference on the Commissioners of Great Seal, Bill.

The Members of the Commons being ready for the Conference, the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed.

The Duke of Bolton endeavoured to report the Effect of this Conference; but, because of some Defects in the Papers, it could not be made. The House did refer it to the Committee, to rectify the Papers, and give an Account thereof To-morrow Morning.
