ORDERED, That the Lord Stawell hath Leave to go
into the Country.
Land Tax Bill.
vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for a
Grant to Their Majesties of an Aid of Two Shillings
in the Pound, for a Year."
ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill is
committed to a Committee of the whole House.
And accordingly the House was presently adjourned
And, after long Debate, the House was resumed.
And the Lord Viscount Newport reported, "That
the Committee had made some Progress in the Bill for
granting an Aid of Two Shillings in the Pound for a
Year, to Their Majesties; and do desire that the House
may be put again into a Committee To-morrow
Morning, to proceed further therein."
To which the House Agreed; and ordered, that the
House shall be adjourned to Nine of the Clock Tomorrow, for that Business.
ORDERED, That the Cause which was to be heard
To-morrow, wherein Elizabeth Beake is Plaintiff, and
Richard Berny Defendant, shall be heard, by Counsel
on both Sides, at the Bar, on Saturday the 21th Instant,
at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
Fountain versus Coke.
The House being this Day moved, to appoint a Day
for hearing the Cause wherein Andrew Fountaine Esquire is Plaintiff, and Edward Coke Defendant:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That the House will hear the
said Cause, by Counsel on both Sides, at the Bar, on
Monday the 23th Instant, at (fn. *) Ten of the Clock in the
Forenoon; and that in the mean Time all Proceedings
be stayed; whereof the said Andrew Fountaine is to
cause timely Notice to be given the said Edward Coke, to
the End he attend with his Counsel accordingly.
Papists that will take the Oath of Fealty to be eated from the Laws in Force.
The House was moved, "That the Committee appointed to inspect the former Laws against Papists, and,
wherein they are defective, to draw a Bill to remedy
the Defects in the former Acts, may have Power to
draw a Bill, that every Papist that will take the Oath
of Fidelity may have Ease from the Laws in Force."
It was ordered accordingly.
