PRAYERS.

The Earl of Nottingham acquainted the House, "That Their Majesties have granted a Commission, under the Great Seal of Engl'd, for the Proroguing of this Parliament."

The Speaker took the Place as before.

Hereupon the Lords Commissioners being in their Robes, the Lord Steward being set on a Form cross the House, between the Throne and the Woolsack, the Earl of Bath and the Earl of Fauconberge on his Right Hand, and the Earl of Nottingham and the Lord Viscount Newport on his Left Hand, commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to give the House of Commons Notice of the said Commission; and to signify to them, "That the Lords desire they would be present, to hear the said Commission read."

Who being come, with their Speaker; the Commission was read, as followeth:

Commission for proroguing the Parliament.

Charissimis Consanguineis et Consiliariis Nostris Thomæ Marchioni Carmarthen Prædenti Concilii Nostri, Henrico Duci Norffolke Comiti Marescallo Angliæ, Carolo Duci Bolton, Rob'to Comiti Lindsey Magno Camerario Angliæ, Will'o Comiti Devon Senescallo Hospitii Nostri, Carolo Comiti Dors. et Midds. Vicesimo Die Martii ult. præterit. inchoari et teneri ordinaverimus; a quo Die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad et in Vicesimum Tertium Diem Maii tunc prox. sequen. continuatum fuerat; eodemque Die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad et in Septimum Diem Julii tunc prox. sequen. adjournatum fuerat; et abinde per separales Prorogationes ad et in Octavum Diem instantis Septembris ulterius prorogatum fuerat; et ab eodem Octavo Die Septembris prædict. per separal. Adjournament. ad et in Duodecimum Diem ejusdem Septembris adjournatum fuerat, apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. prædict. ibidem tunc tenendum et prosequendum: Sciatis tamen, quod, certis urgutibus Causis et Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum prorogandum duximus. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentia, et Cireumspectionibus vestris plurimum confidentes, de Avisamento et Assensu Concilii Nostri, affignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros; dantes vobis, et aliquibus Quinque vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore Præsentium, plenam Potestatem et Auctoritatem, hoc instante Die Veneris, præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, Nomine Nostro, ad et in Secundum Diem Octobris jam prox. futur. usque prædictam Civitatem Nostram Westm. prorogandum et continuandum, ibidemque tunc tenendum et prosequendum; et ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa Præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Forma prædicta effectualiter expleatis. Damus autem universis et singulis Archiepiscopis, Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Baronibus, Militibus, Civibus, et Burgensibus, ac omnibus aliis quorum interest ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, Tenore Præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis in Præmissis faciendis, agendis, et exequendis, pareant, obediant & intendant, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri secimus Patentes.

"Testibus Nobis ipsis, apud Westm. Duodecimo Die Septembris, Anno Regni Nostri Secundo.

"Per ipsum Regem, propria Manu signat.

"Barker."

Then the Lord Steward said,

"My Lords and Gentlemen,

Parliament prorogued.

"By Virtue of Their Majesties Commission now read, and to us directed, we do, in His Majesty's Name, prorogue this Parliament to Thursday the Second Day of October next: And this Parliament is prorogued to Thursday the Second Day of October next."

Hitherto examined by us, this 23th Day of October, 1690,
