PRAYERS.

Church Government.

THE House being informed, That divers Divines of the Assembly, were at the Door;

They were called in: And Dr. Burges did present the humble Advice of the Assembly of Divines, now sitting, by Ordinance of Parliament, at Westminster, concerning Church Government.

He likewise informed the House, That their dissenting Brethren had entered their Dissents on Monday or Tuesday last; but have, as yet, not given in their Reasons.

Resolved, &c. That the humble Advice of the Assembly of Divines, concerning Church Government, be taken into Consideration on Thursday next, peremptorily: And Mr. Speaker to put the House in mind hereof.

Fast Day.

Sir Hen. Vane carried up to the Lords, for their Concurrence, the Votes concerning a Fast for the Members of both Houses, on Wednesday next.

Message to Lords.

Sir Wm. Lewes carried up to the Lords the Ordinance for Ordination of Ministers in the County of Lancaster; for appointing Sommersett House for the Reception of the Duke of Richmond, and the Earl of Southampton: The Order for no Member to visit the Duke of Richmond, and the Earl of Southampton, &c.; Concerning Two thousand Pounds out of the Excise; Concerning the Recorder of Derby; Concerning the Isle of Wight; for an Hundred Pounds to the Judge Advocate; Concerning a Minister for Wokingham; for Five hundred Pounds out of Haberdashers Hall, to Mr. Frost; The Ordinance concerning Waggoners; Concerning Chaloner's Wardship.

Church Government.

Sir Robert Harley reports the Amendments to the Ordinance for establishing the Directory for Publick Worship: The which were twice read; and upon the Question, assented thereunto.

Resolved, &c. That the Directory for Publick Worship be translated into the Welsh Tongue: And that it be recommended to the Assembly of Divines, to see it done accordingly.

Repeal of Statute 35 Eliz.

Ordered, That the Ordinance concerning the Repealing of the Statute of the 35 Eliz. be brought in, and read.

Burial.

Ordered, That the Assembly be desired to send in the Particular concerning Burial.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Wm. Lowes brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Order concerning Sommersett House; and to the Order concerning the Two thousand Pounds out of the Excise.

Sir Hen. Vane brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Fast, to the Day, and to the Persons; and desire Hen. the Seventh's Chapel may be the Place.

Northern Affairs.

Ordered, That the Report concerning the North, be made To-morrow Morning, the first Business, peremptorily: And that Mr. Speaker put the House in mind hereof.

Ships hired by the State.

The humble Petition of the Owners, Captains, and Commanders of Ships, hired in the River of Thames, for the Service of the State, for the Guarding of the Seas, since the beginning of these Troubles, was this Day read; and, upon the Question referred, and especially recommended unto the Consideration of Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Nicoll, Sir Christofer Yelverton, Sir Wm. Allenson, Mr. Pelham, Mr. Long, Mr. Vassall, Sir Wm. Massam, Mr. Rolle, Alderman Soame, Mr. Spurstoe, Mr. Prideaux, Sir H. Vane, Sir Gilbert Gerard, Mr. Buller, Sir Jo. Corbett, Mr. Corbett, Sir John Evelyn, Mr. Bond, Mr. Jesson, Mr. Holland, Sir Tho. Dacres, Sir Samuell Rolle, Mr. Ashhurst, Col. Ven, Mr. Bedingfeild, Mr. Blakiston, Sir Robert Pye, Sir Martyn Lumley, Sir John Potts, Mr. Bence, Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Whitelock; and the several Members of the Committee of the Navy: And they are to meet this Afternoon at Two of Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber: And they have Power to receive and consider of such Propositions as shall be snored by the Petitioners, for their Satisfaction: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, Records, &c.

Merchant Adyenturers.

Mr. Whitelock reports, That the Merchant Adventurers do condescend to a Forbearance of the Ten thousand Pounds issuable out of the Excise, upon the Desires of this House; and do desire that the Days and Times of Payment may be agreed upon, and settled, by the Commissioners of Excise.

It is thereupon Ordered, That the same Gentlemen that were employed to the Merchants Adventurers, be employed to the Commissioners of Excise; to agree upon and settle the Days and Times of Payment of the said Ten thousand Pounds payable to the Merchants Adventurers, and forborne upon the Desires of this House.

London, &c. Petition.

The House being informed, That divers Gentlemen of London, Westminster, and Lines of Communication, were at the Door, desirous to prefer a Petition to this House;

They were called in; and did prefer a Petition, styled The humble and most grateful Acknowledgment of divers well-affected Persons of London, Westminster, Hamlets of the Tower, Borough of Southwark, and other Parts within the Lines of Communication: The which was read: And

It is Ordered, upon the Question, That Mr. Recorder and Mr. Ellys go forth to the Petitioners, and acquaint them, That this House doth take Notice of their good Affections; and will proceed according to the Trust reposed in them.

Members no to hold Offices. [Self-denying Ordinance.]

Ordered, That the Ordinance for disenabling the Members of either House to have or execute any Office or Command Military or Civil, be taken into Consideration, and read the Second time, on Saturday next, peremptorily: And that Mr. Speaker put the House in mind hereof.
