PRAYERS.

The Lord President acquainted the House, "That Her Majesty had sent a Commission for further proroguing this Parliament."

Then the Lords Commissioners took their Places on a Form cross the House, between the State and the Woolsack; the Lord President in the Middle, and the Earl of Oxon, the Earl of Bath, and the Earl of Nottingham, on his Right Hand, and the Earl of Pembrooke and the Earl of Fauconberge on his Left Hand (all in their Robes); who commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to go to the House of Commons, and desire their Attendance here, to hear the said Commission read.

Who being come, with their Speaker; the Commission was read, as followeth:

"Maria Regina.

Commission for proroguing the Parliament.

"Gulielmus et Maria, Dei Gratia, Angliæ, Sco'æ, Franciæ, et Hibi'niæ Rex et Regina, Fidei Defensores, &c. Charissimis Consanguineis et Consiliariis Nostris Thomæ Marchioni Carmarthen Præsidenti Concilii Nostri, Henrico Duci Norffolc. Comiti Marescallo Angliæ, Carolo Duci Bolton, Rob'to Comiti Lindsey Magno Camerario Angl., Will'o Comiti Devon Senescallo Hospitii Nostri, Carolo Comiti Dorset et Midds. Camerario Hospitii Nostri, Alberico Comiti Oxon. Carolo Comiti Salop. Will'o Comiti Bedford, Thomæ Comiti Pembrooke et Mountgomery, Joh'i Comiti Bridgewater, Joh'i Comiti Bathon. Carolo Comiti Maclesfeld, Danieli Comiti Nottingham Uni Principalium Secretariorum Nostrorum, Thomæ Comiti Fauconberge, Carolo Comiti Monmouth, Rad'o Comiti Mountague, Henrico Comiti Warrington, Franc'o Vicecomiti Newport Thesaurario Hospitii Nostri, et Prædilecto et Fideli Consiliario Nostro Sidney Domino Godolphin, Salutem: Cum nuper, pro quibusdam arduis et urgentibus Negotiis, Nos, Statum et Defensionem Regni Nostri Angliæ et Ecclesiæ Anglicanæ concernen. præsens hoc Parliamentum Nostrum apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. Vicesimo Die Martii, Anno Regni Nostri Secundo, inchoari et teneri ordinaverimus; a quo Die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad et in Vicesimum Tertium Diem Maii tunc prox. sequen. continuatum fuerat; et abinde, per separales Prorogationes et Adjournationes, ad et in Tertium Diem instantis Augusti prorogatum et adjournatum fuerat, apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. prædictam, ibidem tunc tenendum et prosequendum: Sciatis tamen, quod, certis urgentibus Causis et Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum prorogandum duximus. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentia, et Circumspectionibus vestris plurimum confidentes, de Avisamento et Assensu Concilii Nostri, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros; dantes vobis, et aliquibus Tribus vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore Præsentium, plenam Potestatem et Auctoritatem, hoc instante Die Lunæ, præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, in Nomine Nostro, ad et in Quintum Diem Octobris jam prox. futur. usque dictam Civitatem Nostram Westm. prorogandum et continuandum, ibidemque tunc tenendum et prosequendum; et ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa Præmissa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Forma prædicta effectualiter expleatis. Damus autem universis et singulis Archiepiscopis, Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Baronibus, Militibus, Civibus, et Burgensibus, ac omnibus aliis quorum interest ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, Tenore Præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis in Præmissis faciendis, agendis, et exequendis, pareant, obediant, et intendant, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patentes.

"Testibus Nobis ipsis, apud Westm. Tertio Die Augusti, Anno Regni Nostri Tertio.

"Per ipsam Reginam, propria Manu signat.

Then the Lord President said,

Parliament prorogued.

"By Virtue of Their Majesties Commission now read, and to us directed, we do, in Their Majesties Name, prorogue this Parliament to Monday the Fifth Day of October next: And this Parliament is prorogued accordingly to Monday the Fifth Day of October next."
