The Lord Chandos reported from the Committee, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to rectify a Mistake in the Marriage Settlement of William Gardiner Esquire," as fit to pass, with some Amendments.

Which being read Twice, were agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.

Malt Act, to explain, Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for explaining an Act made the last Session of Parliament, for granting to His Majesty certain Duties upon Malt, Mum, Sweets, Cyder, and Perry."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass ?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Annuities, Bill.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for satisfying and discharging the Arrears of several Annuities, which incurred between the Seventeenth Day of May One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-six, and the Seventeenth Day of May One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-seven."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass ?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, the Lords have agreed to the abovesaid Two Bills, without any Amendments.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Travers and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for confirming and establishing the Administration of the Goods and Chattels of Sir William Godolphin Knight, deceased;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Henry Dutton Colt and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Dudley Vesey, an Infant;" and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to their Lordships Amendment made to the said Bill.

Atheism, &c. to suppress, Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual suppressing of Atheism, Blasphemy, and Profaneness."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Justice Powell and Mr. Baron Powys:

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Bertie versus L. Faulkland.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the Cause wherein the Honourable James Bertie and Elizabeth his Wife are Appellants, and Lucius Henry Cary Lord Viscount Faulkland, Sir William Whitlock, and John Grout, are Respondents, on Monday the Seventh Day of March next, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon: And it is further ORDERED, That all Exhibits that have been proved in Chancery in this Cause be then produced.

E. of Macclesfield's Divorce, Bill:

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dissolving the Marriage between Charles Earl of Maclesfeld and Anne his Wife; and to illegitimate the Children of the said Anne."

The House was resumed.

Gerard's Petition to be heard before the Settlement is altered.

A Petition of Mr. Fitton Gerard being read ; praying to be heard, before any Alteration be made relating to the Settlement mentioned in the said Bill:

ORDERED, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee again upon the said Bill.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That they had made some Progress in the Bill; and desire another Time may be appointed, for the House to be put into a Committee again."

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House shall be put into a Committee again upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dissolving the Marriage between Charles Earl of Maclesfeld and Anne his Wife; and to illegitimate the Children of the said Anne," on Tuesday next, at Eleven of the Clock; at which Time Fitton Gerard Esquire shall be heard, by his Counsel, as desired, upon the Matters alledged in his Petition.
