Hereford Workhouses, &c. Bill for.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for erecting of Hospitals and Workhouses within the City of Hereford, for the better employing and maintaining the Poor there."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be referred to the same Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for erecting Hospitals and Workhouses within the Town of Colchester, in the County of Essex, for the better employing and maintaining the Poor thereof," is referred; which Committee is to meet on Thursday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the giving Time to several Persons to qualify themselves for their Offices, Trusts, and Employments;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Arnold versus Attorney General, Johnson, & al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Thomas Arnold, from Two several Decrees made in the High Court of Chancery, the Three and Twentieth of July, One Thousand Six Hundred Ninty-four, and the One and Twentieth of December, One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-seven, in a certain Cause there depending, wherein the Attorney General was Plaintiff, and the Appellant Thomas Arnold, Mathew Johnson Esquire, Thomas Bedford Gentleman, and others, were Defendants; and praying the Reversal of the said Decrees; and that the Attorney General, Mathew Johnson, Thomas Bedford, and the other Defendants, may answer thereunto:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That His Majesty's Attorney General, Mathew Johnson, Thomas Bedford, and the other Respondents, may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and do answer thereunto on Thursday the Fifth Day of May next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Sir Symon Leach versus Thompson, in Error:

After hearing Counsel, to argue the Errors assigned upon a Writ of Error brought into this House the Third Day of March last, from His Majesty's Court of King's Bench, wherein Judgement is entered, for Thomas Thompson Plaintiff, against Sir Symon Leach Knight of the Bath, John Paddon, and Alexander Leamon, Defendants; and due Consideration of what was offered thereupon:

Judgement affirmed.

It is this Day ORDERED and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Judgement given for the said Thomas Thompson shall be, and is hereby, affirmed; and that the Record be remitted to the Court of King's Bench.

The Tenor of which Judgement, to be affixed to the Record to be remitted, followeth; (videlicet,)

Printed Cases to be signed by the Counsel in the Cause.

The House taking Notice, that, upon Appeals and Writs of Error, there has been of late several scandalous and frivolous printed Cases delivered to Lords of this House:

For the preventing whereof for the future, it is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That no Person whatsoever do presume to deliver any printed Case or Cases to any Lord of this House, unless such Case or Cases shall be signed by One or more of the Counsel who attended at the Hearing of the Cause in the Courts below, or shall be of Counsel at the Hearing in this House; and this Order to be added to the Roll of Standing Orders, and affixed on the Doors of this House and the Courts in Westm'r Hall.
