PRAYERS.
Sheffield versus Betts, E. Montagu's Privilege.
Upon reading the Petition of John Sheffeild Gentleman, Undersheriff to Edmund Godwin Esquire, late
Sheriff of the County of Essex; shewing, "That a
Writ of Fieri Facias was brought to the Petitioner, at
the Suit of Lukein Betts, against Christopher Monck
Esquire, upon which the Petitioner issued the High
Sheriff's Warrant, directed to the Bailiffs; whereupon
the said Lukein Betts and Bailiffs entered the Capital
House of Newball, the House of the Earl of Montagu, and seized Goods; and it being intimated to
the Bailiffs that they had done amiss, they left the
said Goods; and since that, an Action is brought, in
the Name of Lukein Betts, against the said High
Sheriff; and praying Relief in the Premises:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That the Plaintiff Lukein Betts
shall and he is hereby required to attend this House
To-morrow, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon.
Russia Company against the Bill for enlarging the Russia Trade.
Upon reading the Petition of the Company of English
Merchants for Discovery of new Trades, commonly
called the Russia Company; praying, "That they may
be heard, by their Counsel, against the Bill now depending in this House, intituled, An Act to enlarge
the Trade to Russia:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal
in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners shall be
heard, by themselves or Counsel, what they have to offer
against the said Bill, (and also any other Persons who
shall think themselves concerned for the said Bill,) on
Saturday the Eighteenth Day of this Instant February,
at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon.
E. Rivers, E. Peterborow, and E. Orford, Injunction to prevent a Quarrel.
The House being informed, "That there was still
some Cause to suspect there was a Quarrel between
the Earl Rivers, Earl of Peterborow, and Earl of
Orford:"
The Earl of Orford (being present) was ordered to
stay in the House.
And the Earl Rivers and Earl of Peterborow were
sent for, to attend the House immediately.
And, after some Time, they being come to the House,
and heard in their Places; the Lord Chancellor, by
Order of the House, laid the Injunction and strict Commands of the House upon the Earl of Peterborow and
Earl of Orford, "That they should not in any Manner prosecute any Quarrel or Difference which may
have been between them."
And the Earl of Peterborow and Earl of Orford, in
their Places, declared, upon their Honours, "That they
freely submitted to the Injunction and Command of the
House, and did fully and readily comply with it."
Then the Lord Chancellor, by the like Commands of
the House, laid the same Injunction on the Earl Rivers;
who also declared, upon his Honour, "That he freely
submitted to the Injunction and Command of the
House, and did fully and readily comply with it."
And the Earl of Peterborow and Earl of Orford did
likewise the same, as to any Quarrel between them and
the Earl Rivers.
Fitch versus Att. General and Commissioners of the Navy.
After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal
of John Fitch Esquire, and the Answer of His Majesty's
Attorney General and Commissioners of the Navy put
in thereunto:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Report of what
was offered by Counsel thereupon shall be made Tomorrow, at Eleven of the Clock in the Forenoon; and
that His Majesty's Attorney General do then attend, to
be heard.
