ORDERED, That those (fn. 1) Persons who are now in the Custody of the Serjeant attending this House, brought out of the Isle of Axholme as Delinquents, shall be brought to this Bar on Monday Morning, to be heard what they can say for themselves concerning the Complaints made against them.

Message from H. C. for a Conference concerning the Bill to prevent Frauds in Customs; and to return Bushell's Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Phillip Warwicke and others :

To desire a Conference concerning the Amendments sent down in the Bill concerning the Customs.

2. To return their Lordships the Bill concerning Mr. Bushell, wherein they have made some Alterations, and desire their Lordships Concurrence therein.

The Answer returned was:

Answer.

That this House will give a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber.

The Lord Privy Seal, Earl of Bridgwater, and the Lord Ashley, are appointed to report this Conference appointed to be had with the House of Commons.

Bushell's Bill.

The Amendments in the Bill concerning Mr. Bushell, were read Thrice, and Agreed to.

Bill to restore Advowsons, &c. taken away upon Compositions.

The Lord Mohun reported from the Committee, the Bill for restoring Impropriations and Advowsons to the King's loyal Subjects, with certain Amendments and Alterations, which are offered to the Consideration of the House.

The said Amendments were read Twice, and ordered to be re-committed to the same Committee; who are to meet on Monday next, in the Afternoon; at which Time Mr. Attorney General is to be heard on His Majesty's Behalf: And the Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench and Mr. Justice Windham are to attend, and give their Assistance in this Business.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference with the House of Commons; which being ended, the House was resumed.

Report of the Conference concerning the Bill to prevent Frauds in the Customs.

The Lord Privy Seal reported the Effect of the aforesaid Conference: "That whereas their Lordships made some Alterations and Amendments in the Bill for regulating Abuses and Disorders in the managing His Majesty's Customs, the House of Commons have considered of them, and do agree with their Lordships to all of them excepting one, which is concerning Offenders against that Act to be proceeded against by the Justices of the Peace; which Amendment, they conceive, is not so advantageous for the Service of the King, nor Ease of the People, as the Clause is as it stands in the Bill; therefore they adhere to it as it came up from them."

And, after Consideration hereof, the Question being put, "Whether to agree with the House [ (fn. 1) of Commons] herein?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Bengworth Bridge Bill.

The Earl of Bridgwater reported from the Committee, the Bill concerning Bengworth Bridge, as fit to pass, with some Alterations; which, being read Twice, are ordered to be read with the Bill on Monday Morning next the Third Time.

Adjourn.

Dominus Cancellarius declaravit præsens Parliamentum continuandum esse usque in diem Lunæ, videlicet, 5tum diem instantis Maii, hora decima Aurora, Dominis sic decernentibus.
