A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by William Prynn Esquire and others; who
brought up these Bills following:
1. "An Act to enable Trustees for the Lord Strangford to sell Lands, for Payment of Debts."
2. "An Act to limit Pluralities of Livings, and
for Increase of Maintenance of Curates."
3. "An Act for naturalizing of Dame Katherine
Sayer and others."
To which Bills the Commons desire their Lordships
Concurrence.
Also they returned Two Bills, which their Lordships
sent down with some Alterations; to which they agree
with their Lordships:
1. "An Act for collecting the Duty arising by
Hearth-money by Officers to be appointed by His
Majesty."
2. "An Act to prevent the Disturbances of Seamen
and others, and to preserve the Stores belonging to
His Majesty's Navy Royal."
Ld. Hereford versus Sorrell, Harrison, & al. for putting Aldus, his Chaplain, out of Possession of St. Peter's Ipswich.
Upon Report made from the Committee of Privileges, "That Mr. Samuell Aldus, Chaplain in Ordinary
to the Lord Viscount Hereford, a Peer of this Realm,
being put into the Possession of the Church of St.
Peter's in Ipsich, in the County of Suffolk, by his
Lordship, it being a Donative, hath, during the Sitting
of this Parliament, been put out of the said Possession, in a violent Manner, by the outrageous Carriage of Andrew Sorrell Esquire, William Harrison,
Peter Cole, Joseph Hubbard, John Dyer, Thomas Goodwin, and Edward Bartle, contrary to the Privilege
of Parliament, and to the Prejudice of his Lordship's
Right:"
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Viscount
Hereford shall be forthwith restored to the same Possession he had at the Time when his said Chaplain was
put out; and that the said Andrew Sorrell, William
Harrison, Peter Cole, Joseph Hubbard, John Dyer,
Thomas Goodwin, and Edward Bartle, shall be summoned Personally to appear before the Lords in Parliament, the Third Day of the next Meeting of this House
after the Recess now at Hand, to answer their said
Offences.
