Queen present:
Her Majesty, being arrayed in Her Regal Robes and
Crown, attended with Her Officers of State, ascended
Her Royal Throne (the Peers being also in their Robes);
commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to
signify to the House of Commons, "It is Her Majesty's
Pleasure, that they attend Her presently, in the House
of Peers."
Who being come; the Lord Keeper, by Her Majesty's
Command, said,
"My Lords and Gentlemen,
"I am commanded by Her Majesty to let you know,
that Her Majesty will defer declaring the Causes of
calling this Parliament, till there be a Speaker of the
House of Commons.
Commons directed to choose a Speaker.
"Therefore it is Her Majesty's Pleasure, that the
Gentlemen of the House of Commons repair to the
usual Place where the Commons fit, and proceed to
the Choice of a fit Person to be their Speaker, and
present him here to Her Majesty, for Her Royal Approbation, To-morrow Morning, at Eleven a Clock."
Then Her Majesty was pleased to withdraw; and the
Commons went to their House.

This Day Henry Earl of Kent sat first in Parliament,
upon the Death of his Father Anthony Earl of Kent;
and took the Oaths aforementioned, and also subscribed
the Declaration, according to the Statutes.
