This Day Bernard Edward Duke of Norfolk, and
Charles Lord Clifford of Chudleigh, severally took and
subscribed the Oath appointed to be taken by the Act
of the Tenth Year of the Reign of His late Majesty, by
Peers professing the Roman Catholic Religion.
Birmingham Grammar School Bill, Comee to appoint a Chairman.
Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled,
"An Act to enable The Governors of the Possessions,
Revenues and Goods of the Free Grammar School of
King Edward the Sixth in Birmingham, in the County
of Warwick, to pull down the present Masters Houses
and Schoolhouse in New Street, in the Town of
Birmingham, and to make and erect more suitable
Accommodations on a new Site in the Vicinity of the
Town, and to procure such new Site; and to extend
the Objects of the Charity by erecting and making on
the old Site in New Street Accommodations suitable for
a new School for teaching modern Languages, the Arts
and Sciences; and to make certain Additions to the
Estates of the said Charity by Purchase; and to raise
Money for the Purposes aforesaid, by applying certain
Funds now belonging to the said Charity, and by Sale
of Part of the Estates belonging thereto, and by Mortgage; and for other Purposes," stands committed, do
appoint their own Chairman.
Glasgow & Kilmarnock Road Bill, Petition against, referred to the Com ee:
Upon reading the Petition of Colin Campbell of Hagton
Hill, in the County of Renfrew, Esquire, for himself and
the other Owners and Occupiers of Lands and of Houses
in Villages adjoining the present Road leading from the
City of Glasgow to the Town of Kilmarnock; taking
notice of a Bill depending in this House, intituled, "An
Act for amending and continuing an Act for repairing
Roads in the County of Renfrew, and for altering the
Line of Road between Glasgow and Kilmarnock, in the
said County;" and praying their Lordships "to be
heard by himself, his Agents and Counsel against the
said Bill and the Clauses thereof, and that the same
may not pass into a Law:"
It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to
the Committee to whom the said Bill stands committed,
and that the Petitioner be at liberty to be heard against
the same, as desired; and that Counsel be heard for the
Bill, at the same Time, if they think fit.

Galway Town Regulation Bill, Petition in favor of.
Upon reading the Petition of the resident Landowners
of the County of the Town of Galway, whose Names are
thereunto subscribed; taking notice of a Bill depending
in this House, intituled, "An Act to repeal so much of
an Act passed in Ireland in the Fourth Year of the
Reign of King George the First, for the better regulating the Town of Galway, and for strengthening
the Protestant Interest therein, as limits the Franchise created by the said Act to Protestants only;"
and praying their Lordships "to pass the same into a
Law:"

Criminal Laws, Petition from Kingston upon Thames for Alteration of.
Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the
Town and Neighbourhood of Kingston upon Thames, in
the County of Surrey, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying their Lordships "to sanction an early
Revision of the Laws relating to Forgery, with a view
to substituting, for the awful Penalty at present awarded
for this Offence, such other Punishment as may appear
to their Lordships best adapted to promote the Welfare
and true Interests of a Christian Community:"

Forgeries Bill, Petition from Kettering in favor of.
Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of
Kettering and its Vicinity, whose Names are thereunto

Hydrophobia, Petition from Kingston upon Thames respecting.
Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the
Town of Kingston upon Thames, in the County of Surrey,
whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying, "That
their Lordships will take into Consideration the great
Danger and alarming Consequences which threaten the
Inhabitants of populous Towns where Dogs suspected
to have been bitten by others in a rabid State are
suffered to remain without Restraint in the Streets,
there being no Legal Power vested in the Magistracy
to order the Seizure or Destruction of such Dogs; and
that their Lordships will procure some Legislative
Enactment to meet the Urgency of the Case:"

E. of Kenmare's Petition claiming a Right to vote for Peers for Ireland.
Upon reading the Petition of The Right Honorable
Valentine Earl of Kenmare, in that Part of the United
Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland called Ireland;
setting forth, "That the Petitioner's late Father Valentine
Viscount Kenmare was, by Letters Patent under the
Great Seal of Ireland, bearing Date the Second Day
of January One thousand eight hundred and one,
advanced to the Dignity of an Earl of Ireland by the
Name, Style and Title of Viscount Castlerosse and Earl
of Kenmare, in the County of Kerry; to hold the
said Dignity to him and the Heirs Male of his Body
lawfully begotten: That the Petitioner's said late
Father departed this Life on or about the Fourth Day
of October One thousand eight hundred and twelve,
whereupon the Petitioner, as his eldest Son and Heir,
succeeded to the said Title and Dignity of Earl of
Kenmare aforesaid: That in virtue of such Peerage
the Petitioner claims a Right to vote at the Elections
of Peers for Ireland to sit in the Parliament of the
United Kingdom;" and therefore praying, "That his
said Right may be admitted by their Lordships:"
It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the
Lords Committees for Privileges, to consider and report;
and that the Committee do meet to consider thereof on
Thursday next.
