Private Secretary to First Secretary 1812-70

Provision was made for an annual allowance to be paid to the Clerk acting as Private Clerk or Private Secretary to the First Secretary in 1812. (fn. 1) The post was briefly discontinued in 1821-2. (fn. 2) Beginning at £50, the allowance was increased to £100 in 1844 and to £150 in 1866. (fn. 3)
